Anti-Hillaryists

One of the prerequisites of Washington insiderism

is disdain for Hillary Clinton. Hating Hillary is an industry among the political class and media elites…

There’s much talk of populism in 2016, of establishment versus outsiders, of Trump and Bernie. But what’s more populist than a candidate beloved by the people and reviled by political tastemakers and media elites?

Yes, Hillary is the true outsider, and yes, that statement torpedoes conventional wisdom.

Everybody who is not blinded by sexism knows this. Of course, that’s not a huge group of people.

There is also a hilarious article in the NYTIMES about anti-Hillaryists:

“THERE is nothing more sexist than wanting Hillary Clinton as president because she’s a woman.”

That is the attack I faced, in December, from women on a cruise organized by The Nation, the stalwart liberal magazine.

This is so damn funny. An equivalent would be a stalwart liberal saying that Affirmative Action is “racist against white people.”

Poor facile freaks. All their fake liberalism flies out of the window the second they are asked to question the foundational support of their sad little psyche, i.e. the conviction that women suck.

    1. The NYT also endorsed John Kasich in the Republican primary, so I’m not sure how helpful a boost by the NYC actually is.

Haha wow, I’m surprised this hot take wasn’t published in Slate. This probably was a little too contrarian even for them. My god, what garbage.

    Hillary Clinton: The Ultimate Outsider

Here is the number of Clinton’s endorsements*:

    Cabinet officials: 28
    Governors: 42
    Senators: 47
    House Representatives: 192
    Members of the DNC: 113

By way of contrast, here is the number of Sanders’s endorsements*:

    Cabinet officials: 1
    Governors: 1
    Senators: 1
    House Representatives: 3
    Members of the DNC: 7

    Yeah, Clinton the true outsider.

Notice how all these Clinton supporters in the media only refer to anecdotal information? It’s either someone on twitter (a ‘Berniebro’), or some liberal they met on a cruise.

NYTimes just endorsed Clinton. I have yet to see any prominent newspaper endorse Sanders. But yeah, the media is so anti-Clinton these days. Wtf.

    1. Oh, Salon too. That radical lefty magazine which can’t shut up about trigger warnings and safe spaces. Endorsed Clinton.

But that woman on the cruise, though.

        1. You have politicians and media outlets all over the country falling over backwards to endorse a candidate, and this person is claiming the candidate is an outsider. Takes some chutzpah to blatantly make such a fraudulent argument.

Btw, why do you hate Robin? I’m very curious now! 😀

          1. I hate him because he is stupid. Every article I read by him is just a collection of meaningless cliches without an ounce of original thinking behind them. He doesn’t produce, he reproduces. It’s like an endless loop that goes on and on in circles and makes my brain hurt.

I have not seen anybody in this campaign get more out-of-control, baseless hatred than Hillary. Trump gets a lot of hatred but it’s not baseless. I also think that being an outsider is a really bad thing, so it’s not like anybody is competing for a great prize here.

            1. Ah, I can see that.

I don’t have a grounding in the humanities so I’m happy to read the references he digs up, but I can see how it would be annoying for someone like you who already knows that stuff.

  2. Here’s a thought: HRC is both a member of the establishment and a woman.
She’s following a very common female path to power by being closely associated with a male politician who was also a family member (Indira Gandhi, Bhutto, Aquino) or being as conservative or centrist as possible (Thatcher, Merkel) or both (Chandrika Kumaratunga). I’m sure there are exceptions, but it’s almost if many people can’t cope with radical ideas in a woman who’s a successful politician, unless you’re a literal revolutionary. (Quick, name the Green candidates for president!)

Successful precedent setters tend to be as by-the-book, looks-good-on-paper as possible in as many areas of their life as possible because they are judged by the novelty of their identity and put under stricter scrutiny. They are judged much more harshly if they are original and they fail.

    1. All true.

Is there any other candidate who is being constantly hounded not even for their own sex life but for their spouse’s sex life? Of course, not. But people can’t see a woman and avoid talking about sex. It’s like a reflex. She’s placed outside of the regular political discourse by default. But it’s convenient not to notice that, so nobody notices.
