We keep hearing endless condemnations of Hillary for the 1996 welfare reform – with which she had absolutely nothing to do whatsoever and which has been unfairly maligned. One side blames Hillary for Bill’s sex life. The people who are supposed to be on the opposite side blame her for his work life. She just can’t win.
Yet we never hear anything about how badly Bernie Sanders – and mind you, not Bernie’s wife, daughter or aunt – bungled on the VA scandal. Because it’s so much more crucial to bash Hillary on somebody else’s actions.
Yeah, no sexism here at all. None.

Gosh, it’s the favorite talking point of all Liberal Hillary haters. I has no idea what the reform was about, looked it up, and didn’t find anything horrifying. The worst thing anybody could say about it is that some states used the money to patch their budget holes. How this particular development can be blamed on Hillary is a complete mystery.

How much of it is her simply being a woman and how much of it is simply becaue people are feeling the Bern a little too excessively? (Quite probably a bit of both, in fairness.)

I love Bernie and actually identify with him in ways I never will with Hillary. However, in order not to see that he has no positions on most issues and no plan how to achieve the things where he does have a position, one needs to be blinded by something stronger than love for Bernie.

OK. You have seemed a little critical of Bernie. I don’t know too mouch about where he does and doesn’t stand on all the issues, as I’ve not followed it too closely (not really my politics but still important due to US influence on the world stage), though I probably know a little more about his than any of the other candidates!
Just wondering are you eligible to vote (which I presume means you’d be naturalized in the US if so)?

I love him as a person and a politician but not as a candidate in this election.
And no, I can’t vote, I’m not a citizen. But I can opine to my heart’s content. 🙂 And donate.

Out of curiosity, though, what about the comments by the likes of Gloria Steinem and Madeline Albright making scathing comments about young women who supported Sanders? Depending on your preferred definition of sexism, it may or may not count as such but could be just as bad, perhaps?

There were no scathing comments, that’s all media hype. Steinem was obsequious to the point of fawning towards young women. Look at the entire interview in question and you’ll see.
