The baby is about to turn one month old, and I still can’t believe she’s real.

Beautiful little girl — why do you always refer to her as “the baby” and not “Klara”?

There are always new readers who might not know who Klara is. Just in the last 2 days we were joined by 4 new people here on the blog.

A month already? Oh my goodness. That’s amazing. And she’s lovely. π You look great too: your hair looks incredible! Like a Pre-Raphaelite painting.

Yes, I love this character.

Yes. There is a certain appeal to the Medea-like figure who take terrifying revenge on everybody around her and disintegrates in a blaze of fury. π

She (Bertha Mason) certainly seems more interesting than Jane herself (as an adult she seems mostly kind of…. insipid and stupid?).
Is Bertha the adult incarnation of her childhood rage that dissipates so mysteriously?

This is a very interesting reading.
The only reason I’m sorry I didn’t go into English lit is that I don’t get to teach this novel.

Aww, is she practicing dance moves or a martial art? What does she dream of? π

I think she will become a symphonic orchestra conductor because her hands are so expressive and dramatic. π

Or she could be a sign language poet:

Her pose looks a little like she’s thinking “I said no photos!”.
Apropos of nothing…. one of the things that made me suspect you were pregnant was when you stopped posting pictures of yourself.

Yes, I couldn’t color my hair, and nobody would believe I’d choose for it to look that way of my own free will. π

If you want to give Klara sweet dreams, whisper a bedtime story into her ear:
Tell her that Bernie WON the Michigan primary tonight, causing a major upset amongst the Democrats, and demonstrating that occasionally the forces of truth and sincere beliefs still win over political expediency! π π

Aw, she’s gorgeous! I love her little dress, very nice. You look fantastic. I would not believe that you’ve only recently given birth.

When my son was that age, I would think to myself, “Who are you, where did you come from, and how long are you staying?” It was as of he appeared out of nowhere by magic (even though I was obviously there for his appearance).
And now I can’t believe he ever didn’t exist, even though of course I remember life before him, before I knew who I would marry even. Some things are beyond logic.

Yes I agree with everybody, a very lovely picture. You hair is fabulous indeed. The question is, what is Klara conducting? My guess is Sibelius.

She definitely looks like an orchestra conductor. π

You are both gorgeous! I remember having my first felt a bit surreal for quite a while. This baby came out of nowhere and they let me take it home and keep it forever, and they trust me to take care of it. I had a number of experiences where I am outside of my body, looking at myself with the baby, and just shaking my head at how unreal the scene looked. It really is a tectonic shift, parenthood.
