Putin Fails in Austria

I only just found a moment to discover this great news: Russia didn’t manage to buy the election for the far-right party in Austria that it sponsors. All of the anti-Nazi forces in Austria had to work together in a coalition but they did manage to squeeze out a win and defeat the Putinoids.

This is the second major loss for Russians who are trying to undermine Europe by sponsoring far-right parties. The first one was the trouncing Putin’s favorite puppet Marine Le Pen got last year.

Of course, if Brexit does take place, Putin will go into paroxysms of joy. This will be a huge gift to him.

  1. I understand and support your desire for Putin to fail, but your happiness might be premature. The election could fortell a constitutional crisis since the winner has said before that he would not swear in a prime minister whose politics displease him.

I’m not exactly sure what the consequences would be, but it’s not hard to imagine that it could lead to new elections where far right parties do even better.

And there may be fraud involved, one area had more votes cast than eligible voters.

If mainstream parties in the EU weren’t so horribly dysfunctional then Putin would be pouring money down a gopher hole supporting the “far right” but mainstream politicians (like the new Austrian President Elect) are so terrible that they make the far right option more attractive than it should be.

If I didn’t know better I’d say the money for LePen is a smokescreen and the politicians he’s really bought out are Merkel and Juncker and the like to alienate the European public.
