Muslims or Guns?

Of course, now half the country will moan, “Evil Muslims!” and the other half will wail, “Evil guns!” And nobody will have a minute to spare for a discussion of violence against women because it’s never the right time to talk about it.

The Orlando terrorist, by the way, reportedly turned to terror after he saw two men kissing. A man who demeans himself by voluntarily accepting the “lowly” female status was so intolerable for this vicious animal to observe that he blew up in an even greater violent rage.

And now, after this brief interlude, please proceed to the discussion of Muslims / guns as suits your fancy. I already saw somebody report that the killer had “a Muslim name”, whatever that even means. That same person (who probably would never refer to himself as having “a Christian name”) then easily segued into a condemnation of guns, making a bid for both halves of the national audience. That’s true mastery, folks.

  1. It’s not discussed that the family members, especially women are often the first to die at the hands of these shooters.

In that last post, the Orlando night club shooter’s ex wife recognizes that he would have killed her if they were still married or if she were in any way accessible to him.

With the UCLA shooter; he went and he killed his ex-wife before he killed his professor.

With the Sandy Hook shooter he murdered his mother first.

With the Tuscon shooting, Loughner shot Giffords first.

Obama: “an act of terror and an act of hate.”

      • Exactly. That’s precisely what I’m saying. Violence against women is a constant in such murders but it rarely gets discussed and when it does, the discussion is very half-hearted.

  2. Omar Mateen, the shooter, has a family who originally came from Afghanistan. The spin has already begun with ABC news stating:

“In the midst of the attack, Mateen called 911 and pledged his allegiance to ISIS, according to two law enforcement officials.

ISIS supporters have cheered the massacre online and an ISIS communique referred to the shooter as an ISIS “fighter,” but there’s no evidence ISIS directed or had prior knowledge of the attack, terrorism observers told ABC News.

ISIS, which is based in Syria, has targeted gay men for beatings and murder in the Middle East and has filmed its members throwing some men suspected of being gay from the roofs of buildings.”

This is part of the duality of current reporting. If the subject is a Muslim, then his actions are the consequence of an external religious ideology and if the subject is a Christian i.e. Sandy Hook, then his actions must be the consequence of an internal psychosis.

    1. What rarely gets mentioned is that Muslims are a lot more likely actually to practice than people named Jones or Smith. Christianity is dying in a way Islam is not, and there is a lot of cultural anxiety as a result.

It’s not dying because of anything about the faith itself, mind you. It’s being killed by consumerism. Bring enough consumer goods to Muslims, and they will experience the same crisis.
