Household Day

Mondays are my household-running days, so I’m missing all of the excitement at the Republican convention. By Monday, I always accumulate sufficient guilt for not doing anything around the house and being a free rider, so I attack household chores with a vengeance. At the end of the day, the guilt is appeased and I feel free to do nothing for the rest of the week.

Today I did the following:

– made mushroom stew. N and I are going vegetarian for the next two weeks. It will be a culinary challenge for me.

– made arrangements for the handyman to come this week to repaint the deck.

– made arrangements for a carpet cleaner to come on Wednesday.

– tried to get a shrub remover to come in but they are all booked up for the next 2 months. A bagworm ate one of our shrubs and I’m afraid it will eat the second one.

– so I also removed the worms that migrated to the second shrub and drowned them in soapy water. I’m an insectophobe, and this was a major features.

– did the dishes.

It doesn’t sound like a lot but I have an infant here and that’s the best I can do during her naps.

Any particular reason? It’s summer, so good vegetables are readily available.

  2. I asked my dad about bagworms to see if there’s anything you could do about them in the meantime. But they’re not really around here at all, so he doesn’t know much about them. If you haven’t already, maybe try going to a local garden center or nursery (for plants, not people), to see if they have any suggestions.

You’re not. I’m a politics junkie and I couldn’t stand more than a few minutes of this buffoonery.

A speaker on stage having his fly down on national television is the perfect metaphor for this amateur hour shitshow.

        1. Yes. I felt very sorry for that poor, poor woman. It’s a tragedy. and it’s sad that people close to her are not steering her towards getting help.

    1. Did you miss Lt. General Flynn’s speech? It was the best one of the night so far — a bit over the top, but totally factually correct.

Okay, I’ll give her credit for better grooming. 🙂

          1. She is a beauty queen compared to the creepy looking Trump. And Trump’s wife increasingly looks like an ad for bad plastic surgery. Well, at least she’s keeping her knickers on in public, which is a huge achievement for her already.

Are you implying that Melania’s face looks so hard that you could bounce rocks off it?

What a sexist statement for an academic feminist!

              1. The dumb bimbo couldn’t even say two sentences without ripping off Michelle Obama’s speech. What a disgrace.

I hate it when Eastern European bimbos are paraded on TV. Give us all a bad name. And hey, there’s nothing sexist. I’m always ready to condemn male prostitution, too.

  4. Looks like sabotage to me. Included in the speech was a fucking RickRoll: ‘he’s never gonna give up, never gonna let you down’.

Sounds like a disgruntled #neverTrump speechwriter.

lol. The best people. Just the best.

Well, that breathes new life into the conspiracy theory that Trump is an agent of the Clintons. Trump might close out his acceptance speech with an #ImWithHer.

  5. Something funny:

MOSCOW – The Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia said Tuesday it does not mind people playing the hit smartphone game “Pokemon Go” around synagogues and other cultural buildings.

The Jewish community’s governing body said in a statement that it is not against the game as long as it is not disturbing the congregation.

The game has had a mixed reaction from other denominations and Russian politicians. While Russian airports and banks have endorsed the game, the Russian Orthodox Church and some Duma deputies have angrily complained that the Western-developed app has harmed Russia.

Not sure what this has to do with those stupid novelty items though unless raging sexism is a form of sexual dysfunction.
