The carpet cleaner is over 10 years younger than me for sure. He has 3 kids and a 16-year-old girlfriend who has a 3-month-old baby with somebody else.

We took the train to Santa Monica last weekend (hurray for LA Metro’s latest expansion!) and sat a few seats away from a woman who was describing her 2016 to a complete stranger and it had more drama than I and everyone I know put together has ever seen or experienced in their lives.
Child custody problem, drug problems, alcohol, bad roommates who jumped her and stole her shit one night, more children problems, ex-boyfriends drama. Jesus, and this was only 2016.
It is really a privilege to lead a boring life.

I had a student like that. By graduation, she figured it all out, though, and was doing very well. It’s such a shame that a university that is helping people figure out their lives is being killed. :-((((((
