Sneezing on a Highway

Whoever said what I have can be a seasonal allergy might be right. I have tons of weird sensations occurring in my nose. Plus, I’m sneezing like crazy. This becomes especially scary when I’m driving on a highway. Can anybody here sneeze without closing their eyes? Because it turns out I can. And neither can I sneeze and then stop without repeating the exercise at least 6 times.

  1. I think it was me who suggested allergies. Ragweed is a pretty bad one for many people (many weeds are active around this time). A bad allergy can really feel like a very nasty cold, all stuffed up and miserable. Flonase for the nose coupled with some oral antihistamines (Zyrtec is good, take at night), both over the counter, might make you feel much better. Fingers crossed!

    1. Interesting side effect of taking anti-allergy meds: if you have persistent dark circles around your eyes, it may help reduce them.

If you feel stuffed up with sinus pressure what helps too is irrigating your nose with a neti pot. I boil the water, let it cool to lukewarm and stir salt into it before using it. Then you blow your nose.

  2. I would warn you that if you sneeze hard enough with your eyes open, you risk having your eyeballs pop out of your face… 🙂

But since I’m a doctor, there are probably certain jokes I shouldn’t make.
