Presidential Debate Conclusions

Congratulations, Madam President.

That’s all I’ve got.

  1. The expectation for Trump was below the floor. So.. he did ok. He couldn’t really answer questions put o him but he got in some zingers and one liners.

HRC didn’t attack as much as she could. But I’m sure that was focus grouped as the best response she could take.

Both candidates seemed tired. When Trump was talking about his tweets he could’ve said he scheduled them. He didn’t, which shocked me.

  2. She remains the favorite to win, of course, but I think tonight’s performance may have staunched the flow of republicans jumping ship.

      1. It’s not like his base wants to hear him talk policy. He refused to answer any questions, and just threw red meat to his base (‘throw her in jail’). That’s exactly what they wanted from him and they’re happy now. Chickenshit republican leaders will find it hard to un-endorse him.

Of course he rambled. That’s expected. We all know he’s graded on a separate curve.

        1. His base can’t be moved in any directions. We just have to accept that there is a 40% nutso voter group. It is what it is. He can be taped fucking a dog and they won’t care. There is no hope of prying them away from him. But that’s a good thing because after he loses, they will turn against the GOP. Like they already turned against Paul Ryan.

  3. Trump threatening to jail his political opponent should be a very big deal, and I hope the media catches on to it. This is scary shit.

  4. If small-government conservatives want to have some voice in the next federal government, the only way to do that is to vote for Clinton and for your GOP Senate and Congress candidates, to make her a lame-duck President (and possibly impeached) and to have a general election between adults in 2020.

  5. These debates are all about nonverbal language and tone. People gather much the same information they would if you replaced everything they said with the wawa horn sounds from the adults in Peanuts.

Trump didn’t do so well in my opinion that way. HRC has had extensive coaching on her body language and non verbals especially when it’s not her turn to talk. I don’t know that it’s enough for undecideds.

  6. Trump was completely incoherent for the first 30 minutes or so and then got slightly more coherent? I think that the “common wisdom” is going to be that he did better than the first debate and staunched the massive bleeding his campaign experienced this week.

I think David Gendron is right. Hillary Clinton had to hold back a bit because she needs (and I daresay the country needs) Trump to stay in the race at this point. If he were to withdraw it would be massively chaotic and undermine the legitimacy of her presidency. I bet the last debate will be a massive knock out for her again.

  7. Not sure if this will work, but this is my favorite comment on the entire election:

  8. (nb I didn’t actually see the debate and don’t intend to)

I think you’re wildly overestimating how important the debate is (or debates in general are) in forming voter opinions.

The final result of pussygate (inflated with the combined wrath of the media and his own party establishment) was barely a single percentage point in support.

Back in 2007 Clinton regularly wiped up the stage with Barack Obama and that didn’t help her even with democrats who deserted her the very first chance they got. Having your data on hand and making cogent arguments doesn’t count for much for her.

Clinton has to hope that her next smut salvos work better than pussygate and that the media remains uninterested in her role in the collapse of Libya. I’m sure the mainstream media will do what they can for her, but their hearts aren’t in it.

This continues to be the weirdest election in my lifetime….

    1. I’m pretty sure there is nothing in the world that can make American voters care about Libya. 😆😆😆

Trump looked old and weak yesterday. And that’s his downfall. He looked ridiculous.
