“What does the word ‘ademas’ mean?” I asked in class. (It means ‘besides, also.’)
“Furthermore!” students responded immediately in a loud chorus.
I love college students. Who else would go for the most complicated, formal word when there are simpler alternatives?
“Furthermore” or perhaps “in addition” is a common usage among mathematicians. Neither of these sounds complicated nor formal to my ear.

I’d have said in addition first, but I love that they said furthermore (and as a word, it is more similar: three syllables and contundente) 😀

My first thought was “in addition” as well….. hmmmm
