   LOL! Does this hold for both sweet and pickled cabbage? All of continental Europe has many pickled cabbage dishes that I would say ring German or Polish more than anything else. Pickled cabbage leaves stuffed with beef and rice, simmered with sausages and bacon — yum!

         Sorry to scare you!
         That’s my favorite fall/winter dish, I make it 1-2 times per year, one time for DH’s birthday in late November. As you know, it’s labor-intensive, so I make a large batch at a time and then we eat for days.

   Does N think borsht doesn’t smell Russian or is he just afraid of igniting your wrath by associating the two?
