The talk went great, people. I slaughtered. It is very useful to talk about research because in the process of talking I realized something crucial about my favorite novel among the ones I analyze in the book. I never noticed it before the talk today.
If I could teach what I study, I can’t even imagine how productive I’d be as a scholar.

It is always really useful to talk things out loud with other people. In the sciences, if really helps that we have group members (students, postdocs) that we often interact with and bounce the ideas around. Do you think you can organize a local seminar series or a professional book club in your field, which would enable you and others in similar fields to give talks maybe once a semester?
