I Rest My Case

  1. This doesn’t say a whole lot if you don’t also include the relative change from 2012. For people making under 30k, there was a 16pt swing towards trump. That’s significant, no?

So democrats ceded a constituency they used to dominate. That constituency is now up for grabs. Yay!

    1. Not a working-class revolt, in toto, but also not not a working-class revolt.

Both self-interested sides have the narrative wrong, partially because it’s been a long time since there has been anything like this in American politics.

But yes, it’s a white working-class and privilege-loss mourning backlash combined into on.

To really understand it, have to read a variety of people since every person thinks for sure they know what their part of the elephant is or means.

    2. Could you give me a source for the claim that there was a 16 point swing among low-income voters? I’ve seen too many unsourced and contradictory claims today.

  2. Man, I usually don’t care for them, but I would listen the fuck out of speech from a prominent Dem leader about where do we go from here. Obama, Bernie, Warren, any one of those. Even one from an aspiring 2020 candidate as long as it’s an inspiring speech.

  3. What strong economy? Those of you who think this are idiots. How do you know some of those incomes are not from working class that are self employed with profitable businesses.

Most of us are worse off than 8 years ago. Obamacare has been a disaster and costly to those on fixed incomes and retired. Instead of worrying about stealing our guns, queers using the wrong restroom, or bashing us with costly GW regulations, he should have focused on the economy.

    1. If you are worse off now than 8 years ago, have you tried doing something for yourself and not wait for government handouts? Stop mooching off taxpayers and go get a job. There’s no unemployment in the country.

  4. I’m glad I have plenty of money and don’t depend on public funds. Oh, I do have entitlements but would be well off even without them. And no debt. Sorry for the suckers.
