After reading your blog, I was 100% sure Clinton would win . Got a huge shock now from Israeli sites.
On a plus side, Trump is neither a Mussolini-like dictator nor Putin. His power will be limited by all sides, including by mainstream Republicans who have functioned in the (democratic, don’t forget) American system for decades.
\ We all need to rest before figuring out the next step.
I am trying to figure out why Democrats lost, and two latest posts at Feministe may give some clue:
CLUE 1
And whoever gets elected, the results will be the sa — hahaha no, despite the popular false equivalence that Clinton and Trump are two equally bad sides of the same coin, that is ridiculous, and while things aren’t going to get auto-better under Clinton, saying that she’s as bad as Trump is like saying getting bitten by a puppy is as bad as getting bitten by a gila monster. Both hurt, but one hurts like being stuck with upholstery needles and the other hurts like being lit on fire and is only probably not going to kill you.
This person voted for Clinton, yes. She even says she voted not anti-Trump but for Clinton since “I genuinely think Clinton will do a good job of running the country.”
However, when Feministe female bloggers, who presumably are as Left as one can be, admit they used to be “never as much #withher as I was #againsthim” and even today, compare a Democratic female candidate to a puppy biting you and say “both hurt”, while identifying themselves as supporters of Clinton’s policies, it is weird.
This text did not make sense to me. How does the quoted by me paragraph go with the rest of the post?
CLUE 2 (written before the voting began)
The guilt that comes with having no sympathy
…
But let’s look beyond the self-proclaimed “Deplorables for Trump” who just don’t want to serve gay people in their restaurants […] Let’s look at the people who actually are struggling with new social, cultural, and economic realities, who we have to assume do exist, unless we’re accusing all of those news outlets of the biggest Stephen Glassian scam in the world. Shouldn’t we sympathize with their problems and work, gently, to show them that Trump doesn’t have their best interests at heart?
Again, I would, if they weren’t such assholes about it. Because here’s the thing about Trump: He is not in any way secretive about his plans
…
So they can’t say that his policies and politics — racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, violent, reactive, and uninformed — have been played close to the vest. They can’t say that they didn’t know that the policies he promotes and the attitudes he perpetuates won’t destroy lives and tear apart the fabric of our country. All they can say is that if it solves their personal problems, they’re okay with the rest. They don’t care whose life gets ruined, as long as they get theirs. How, precisely, am I expected to sympathize with that?
…
tl;dr: Cry yourself a river and serenade yourself with a tiny violin solo
So that’s where my sympathy has gone. It’s not that their problems aren’t, at least to some extent, legitimate, and it’s not that they’re supposed to appeal politely for support. It’s that they want to screw me over. Me and everyone else who isn’t them. You want to be treated with sympathy? Show some. You want me to respect your humanity? Demonstrate that you have any.
Spain was unable to elect a government for 10 months and. . . nothing happened. Actually, the economy improved. National governments are becoming less relevant and people treat them as a joke.
Trump is not about anybody’s distress and suffering. It’s about people in the most opulent society on Earth going nuts with boredom. Their only problem is that they are bored and want entertainment, that’s all.
After SB said “your entire country is Trump”, I found this very ironic:
\ A poll published Friday found that many more Israelis prefer Clinton to Trump. Some 49 percent of the 500 Israelis surveyed said they considered the former secretary of state the superior candidate. Only 32 percent preferred Trump, according to an Israel Radio report. American Jews are even more solidly pro-Hillary. Mrs. Clinton is seen by many as a “known quantity.” Although personal relations between Netanyahu and Obama have repeatedly been strained, ties between Israeli and American intelligence, defense, and national security agencies are stronger than ever. Clinton, moreover, is seen as a steady hand, more pro-Israeli and tougher on Middle Eastern Islamists than Barack Obama. Above all, given her vast government experience, she is seen as predictable.
…
many American and Israeli Jews are exceedingly wary of, and deeply alarmed by the strong support that Trump has received from the anti-Semitic Ku Klux Klan and other right-wing fanatics, his racist remarks about Mexicans, and his assault on female critics as “pigs” and “dogs.”
You can say what you want about Mr. Netanyahu, but he is no Trump. Israeli PM is a good and experienced politician, fit to represent a country, regardless of whether one agrees with his views.
Here’s another. Maybe readers can post pictures to help you “chill out” (I’m hilarious!)
Anyhoo…

I think the writer’s attitude was acutely felt by those people all the way during the election campaign.
