The sad part is that so many people treat Trump’s tweets as if they are arguments when in fact they are carnival. With their conniption fits, Trump’s responders feed into the dynamic he needs. They contribute to carnival culture.
A fart joke of a presidency, a mean, cruel joke of a cabinet, a joke of a protest, everything is so funny, ha ha.
Well, as long as everybody is having fun.

I’m resentful and jealous. It’s the same as with colleges. Everybody is do busy discussing Yale’s problems that there’s no time left for anybody else.

There have been confirmation hearings for Trump’s cabinet going on. Even a small protest – 200,000 or so – could maybe stall one of the nominations. That’s a concrete, practical goal. Why isn’t anybody interested in doing that?
Or a protest against the repeal of the ACA. It can’t be less than 500,000 if it is to have any potential but that’s a real goal that is actionable.
I don’t get protests whose goal is to achieve nothing whatsoever.

I posted something on this topic a long time ago here, but a big factor (not the only one of course) is the protestors and sjw snowflakes who are most concerned about “virtue signaling” to show how “progressive” and “radical” they are and will “stand up to the man / patriarchy etc.”. The concrete actions you mentioned don’t lead to as much virtue signaling and self-aggrandizing by most who will be marching. Its less tweetable or postable on facebook / instagram / snap

They can build up people’s enthusiasm and resolve which can then be directed toward goals chosen after the movement begins.

or their sense of self-importance and “amazingness”.. which is what a majority are doing in my estimation. And that is why they will fail to accomplish much if anything (and in fact my further increase his support by the main stream / middle of society)

It’s like people’s memories have been erased. Haven’t you noticed that these symbolic actions with their resolve building have been going for years just as Republicans have been gaining ground in everything? We endlessly build up resolve while they actually achieve everything they want.
