A Strange Diet

Maybe I caught Klara’s bug because I feel terrible. I’m not vomiting or anything but I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck. It can’t be lack of sleep because I never react strongly to that.

The strangest thing is that I’m not eating. We made a great barbecue today but I’m indifferent. Whenever I go to our local hospital – which is the same one where Eric was born – I stop eating for a week and lose 10 lbs. It’s clearly psychological. It’s a huge hospital but they just had to place the emergency right next to the women’s pavilion.

  1. I am so sorry. This must be so rough. And I agree, it sounds like your body is reacting strongly to the reminder (whose body wouldn’t). Be gentle with yourself. I am sending you hugs.

  2. Sorry to hear you are sick! You likely have the same thing as Klara. I remember a nurse once told me that when little kids are sick, their whole bodies react, and they have diarrhea and/or vomiting with almost any virus, while a grownup who’d contracted the same illness would not necessarily have a strong gastrointestinal component to their symptoms.

If you do end up dehydrated by this bug, Gatorade (any color but red) is a good way to replenish electrolytes in grownups (a grownup Pedialyte, if you will).

I’m so sorry, Clarissa. I saw these a week ago and thought of you. Be kind to yourself.
