Does anybody understand what these idiots at Berkeley are trying to achieve? If they hadn’t freaked out, Stinky Coulter’s visit would have gone unnoticed by anybody but a couple of mental invalids eager to hear the spiel she already delivered through every possible medium. There would be no opportunity for her to inflict herself on the notice of normal people beyond that.

But no, they had to go and create a situation where she is actually right, for the first time in her stupid life. Is there really no better way to spend their time?

Yeah, I know….they stop her from speaking on campus and they think they’ve achieved a significant victory against fascism and oppression. LOL.

I agree. These “alt-right” types all creepily feed on attention and then the left gives it to them again and again and again. It sounds very school yard but what these people (conservative racist types) want more than anything is the spotlight. It’s how we have freaking President Trump. They will all wither and die if people greet them with indifference they deserve. Ultimately their “ideas” are boring, infantile, and stupid. They need to be ignored–not “debated” and certainly not “protested.”

It’s like a strange symbiotic relationship. The conservatives feed the need for leftist outrage while the leftists feed the conservative need for attention. I am definitely on the left politically but this behavior accomplishes nothing.–ESPECIALLY since these so-called leftists are incapable of getting to the goddamned polls.

Progressivism is running out of steam and retreating to ever more trivial issues (is milk racist? are high heel shoes a fitting depiction of tenure track faculty) or counterproductive strategies (let’s try to beat people up and get our asses handed to us!) in a kind of death spiral. Trying to whip up and maintain an anti-Trump frenzy was also a doomed effort.

Aggressive rightist movements have the momentum now – and also have the advantage of not being aligned with state power so they have all the edgy rebel vibe.

As my favorite saying goes, no pendulum swings in one direction forever.

  Absolutely. The whole framework has to be changed. And it will be at some point. But observing the agony of this dying model is painful.
