OK, let’s choose one narrative and stick to it. Either gender is a social construct or it’s a physiological reality that can be confirmed with surgery. Of course, if it’s a fact of human biology, you can’t militate against it or denounce it.

As a card-carrying language pedant I maintain that gender is a social construct and that sex is a physilogical reality. I hate having to fill in forms that ask for my “gender” and then offer “male” and “female” as the only options. Male and female are not genders, they are sexes. Genders are masculine, feminine and neuter and perhaps a few other things, but not either male or female.
