Blog Promotion

I used to want more readers in the early years of this blog. I self-promoted, participated in link fairs, etc.

These days, it’s the opposite. All I want is to not be noticed. I find it useful and fun to be able to post random things that occur to me throughout the day. I love the people we have here right now. Nobody is an idiot, nobody agrees with everything I say, nobody tries to make me swear allegiance to their dogma. Everybody has something of value to say and when they don’t, they stay silent.

I literally don’t know a place online that is so devoid of eager idiots. I’m very scared of eager idiots re-discovering my blog.

  1. On whim, I was reading very old posts and comments on this blog. I think the oldest here is 2009. You ‘voice’ has changed so much! And yes, like the blog and it’s audience as is today. 🙂

    1. Hey, nine years. I was a kid when I first started. It would be disturbing if I didn’t change. Although that’s the case with many bloggers.

  2. Hi! I just found your blog this week, thanks to a link from xykadmiqz. I’ll try not to be too obnoxious, but figured I might as well pop in and say hello. I hear you — I haven’t been looking for new readers for my blog either (while I’m a physical science prof, it’s mostly a pregnancy/loss blog), but when a new high-quality one comes along I’m always happy to welcome them. Ignoring the weirdos mostly seems to do the trick. 🙂

    1. Oh, I’m so sorry you experienced pregnancy loss. My son was stillborn at 39 weeks and 2 days, and there is no worse pain that I am aware of. I’m so so sorry for your experience.

      Welcome to the blog!

      1. Oh, how awful. My loss was not that late (18w3d), but even so it was the worst pain that I’ve experienced — I can’t imagine what you must have gone through.

Thanks for the welcome, and looking forward to reading more.

  3. I love your blog. I consider it a blog home away from my own blog home; it’s one of the very few online spaces where I feel comfortable discussing a variety of topics without worrying that someone in the comment section will go completely nuts.
