We have a local tree that’s very high and these huge cabbages grow on it.
Does anybody know what they are? They are big and very heavy. I don’t want to imagine what happens if they bonk you on the head.

Osage orange tree!! Farmers used to grow them as natural animal fencing. Did you take it home? It’s not edible, but it makes a nice decoration.

I’m seconding the Osage orange comment! They’re supposed to keep spiders away. Be careful around the tree — the female trees (the ones that drop fruit) tend to be very thorny.

They are also a public menace. This grows right over a public walking path.

Just don’t drop it on the patio — if it breaks open, it exudes a very sticky latex fluid.
