Jailed in Canada

In Canada people who return home after traveling are locked up against their will and forced to pay room and board for the duration of their jail term. The prices are sky-high. Unlike the US, Canada has found a way to speed up the transfer of capital from the middle class to the oligarchy by levying gigantic fines on individuals for all sorts of minor things (like leaving a mask hanging on the rearview mirror in a parked car. Can anybody guess why this is a crime, by the way?).

There are one or two remaining independent journalists in Canada who go to these “government hotels” and film the captives as they stare out of the windows of their jail.

This is what you get for being more to the left politically as a society.

What do you mean exactly by “being more to the left”? Can Israel also be characterized thus? We are hardly a Left-wing country, yet from covid pov you would characterize our policies as such.

Somebody may take a used mask and re-use it?

    1. Nope. Please keep guessing. đŸ™‚

Canada elected Trudeau, so the population doesn’t have to be thrown the bone of partial reopenings. In the US we first elected Trump so lockdowns have to be imposed more cautiously.

But! Even in the completely insane Quebec schools are fully open today. That’s an important caveat.

  2. If it’s on your rearview mirror, you’re not wearing it, so obviously you must not be wearing a mask.

Or maybe out of fear that whatever germs you have will leak out of your car and infect others?

    1. You get fined even if you are wearing your other mask.

Hint: the danger you are being protected from in this instance isn’t COVID related. There are many other dangers! It’s important to be protected from them all!

        1. You are getting close. . .

Obviously, it’s about getting people to hand over the money. The fines are in the thousands. But the justification is extremely cute. (See my new post).
