Here’s an extremely important article by Glenn Greenwald on the efforts by House Democrats to ban conservative news sources out of existence:

Two senior members of that Committee, Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Silicon-Valley) and Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA) also sent their own letters to seven of the nation’s largest cable providers — Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Dish, Verizon, Cox and Altice — as well as to digital distributors of cable news (Roku, Amazon, Apple, Google and Hulu) demanding to know, among other things, what those cable distributors did to prevent conservative “disinformation” prior to the election and after — disinformation, they said, that just so happened to be spread by the only conservative cable outlets: Fox, Newsmax and OANN.

I think that most people who vote Democrat are well-meaning, good people. But I don’t understand how they manage not to be horrified by this.

What is it that Democrats are giving you that makes this unimportant? Why is this not absolutely terrifying and just wrong?

    How can they do this in broad daylight? Obviously violates First Amendment- “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press……”

      They can’t do it (yet) through adopting legislation, so they are pressuring private companies instead.

      I hate to say it but this is not the America I thought I was coming to. The America I believed in would never stand for this.

    It’s easy for well-meaning people to do it, if they’ve convinced themselves that the opposition is evil. Clearly that makes them the good guys.

    I think that you greatly overestimate how much people think for themselves. Most really don’t. They see the headline, they see that it was written in or spoken by an “official” source and that’s it.

    “Disinformation” seems to have become the latest Magic Word. People hear it and they immediately turn their brains off.

      The word was very very popular in the USSR, so I shudder when I hear it in English.

    It it wasn’t for the “disinformation” we would have never found out about Hunter Biden and the family’s shady dealings. So I can imagine it would be useful to clog the outlets that let the dirt out.

    This is today’s reality, when someone says “disinformation”, it really means “news” as in real news, and when they say “news” it really means “propaganda”.

    Most people do not pay as much attention to politics as we do. Even many people who are moderately political informed don’t even know about this stuff.

      Of course, but those people are unlikely to be on my blog.

      I very sincerely wonder, what are people getting out of it? No babies in cages? That’s all going on as usual. $15 minimum wage and college loan forgiveness? That’s been taken back in the most contemptuous, mocking manner possible. “We believe in science?” Biden went against the CDC guidelines three weeks after inauguration.

      All that people have gotten in return for voting D is mockery and abuse. “If you aren’t overjoyed over the appointment of Neoliberal Neera, you are a racist-sexist.” What are people so excited about?

      I truly don’t get it. The Neoliberal Neera alone would be enough for me to walk away.
