Unexpected Indignity

I just had to sit through a 15-minute talk by a Polish colleague who is shocked that Ukrainian refugees are welcomed in Poland while Syrian or Afghani refugees aren’t.

I keep wondering, are people sincerely that stupid or are they faking it for purposes of self-promotion?

  1. Watched this:

If you’re interested Щаранский explains at 30:29 what’s going on in the Middle East in Syria right now which makes Israel afraid to move against Putin. Didn’t know all the details myself.

  2. On another topic, if you sometimes are interested in listening to something while driving or working, I’ve fallen in love with the YouTube channel «Уроки истории с Тамарой Эйдельман» . May be, you or your husband will love it too.

After the invasion, she moved abroad and started a new series about Ukrainian history.
You know about Ukraine, but I don’t and may be N doesn’t either. Doubt Ukrainian history was taught in Russian schools.

Besides, Tamara Eidelman has talked about various countires and subjects, such as:

(Fighting Putin’s lies re NATO)

She also has a guided tour / excursion kind of video (haven’t watched it):

    Here is her channel:

  3. Another channel I’ve been watching is humorous news updates from a Ukrainian, showing the truth re Russian army and describing the situation in Ukraine, including criticising what needs to be.

    Here is the last program:

It’s in Russian on purpose to let Russians know truth from Ukraine.

  4. Found a short written explanation:

    1. This is all utterly unnecessary verbiage to cover up a simple reality: Israel has sided with Russia. Nobody cares much, so I don’t know who all these explanations are aimed at.

      1. “Israel has sided with Russia”

Was in a long unfruitful discussion yesterday with a (non-Polish) co-worker whose country has sided with Russia…. Personally they were against Russia but…. repeating a lot of Russian apologist rhetoric….

      2. ” I don’t know who all these explanations are aimed at”

They’re trying to convince themselves. As I mentioned earlier, I suspect Russians spend a lot of time using their unquestioned intelligence to weave elaborate rationalizations to justify the unjustifiable.

Just admitting openly that they side with Russia because they think Ukrainians are inferior and don’t deserve their own country (ie that their reasoning isn’t that different from a common vatnik or babushka fascist) doesn’t fit in with their self-image as superior enlightened beings and so they end up lying to themselves.

        1. Exactly. Russians are living in a state of enormous self-delusion where they are poor misunderstood bunnies who are unfairly persecuted. Their whole self-image is deeply off.
