Christmas in July

This 4th of July I celebrate not only Independence Day, one of my favorite holidays, but also the 25th anniversary of my arrival in this hemisphere.

N came up with a great plan to have a memorable celebration: we will have a traditional Christmas meal on July 4th.

Yes, I said Christmas. Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce. It’s a quarter of a century anniversary, folks. It deserves a celebration.

  1. Congratulations!

One of the parallels between us is that I’ve also had the 25th anniversary of my arrival, a month ago on 1st of April.

25 years is a whole lifetime in so many ways.

Continuing with the topic of immigration, wanted the share the new paintings of the Kyiv-born, Israel-based artist Zoya Cherkassky-Nnadi “who grew up in Kyiv before immigrating to Israel at age 14 in 1991” and for years “has documented scenes plucked from her memories of Kyiv as part of her “Soviet Childhood” project.”

She has been trying to help Ukraine in various ways and imo one of them is her new collection of paintings : “So she started pairing existing drawings from her “Soviet Childhood” project with new ones, depicting striking contrasts of before and after”

    The contrasting paintings are here:
