No Response

Russia today destroyed 60,000 tons of grain in Odessa that were being shipped to China.

Let’s all observe the big, scary China… do absolutely nothing.

  1. The Chinese will just buy from someone else. An advantage of being big is they can pick and choose from any number of suppliers desperate to gain access to their market.

This has been true for centuries and is unlikely to change whatever Zeihan thinks.

    1. China is heavily dependent on Ukrainian grain which is something you can’t manufacture in response to demand. It’s seasonal, and it’s grown for existing customers. Nobody grows hundreds of tons of wheat without a buyer agreement. Which means that nobody grew this wheat and sat there waiting for China to need it because it’s extremely perishable.

But aside from these practical considerations, this is yet another case of China silently swallowing the ejaculate that Russians splash on its face.

      1. 10 years ago, the Chinese imported their grain from the US. I suppose it could be a positive development if Russia contributes to resolving the US China trade war.

    1. They also attacked Kyiv with Kinzhals when Li Hui was there on a visit. And again, China meekly sat it out. A moment comes when you have to ask what all this means.
