Edgy and Pouty

How can anybody expect Zareena to understand that saying the things that brought applause and success until five minutes ago is suddenly… bringing less applause and success?

Zareena built a massively successful career out of these proclamations. I’m not justifying her. I’m suggesting that we look at how the vogue for this “edgy”, pouty crap started and who nourished it.

    1. Well, we’ve seen bodies of dead gays slaughtered by Islamist fanatics for years, which didn’t prevent “Queers for Palestine” slogans.

The biggest pro-Palestinian activist on my campus is a very blond, very effeminate (for lack of a better word) gay guy with pink nail polish and makeup. How he squares this all in his head is a mystery.

It was evidently dark humor, not prescriptive, which comes from the tragic fact that the people who claim such ultra refined sensibilities which can be offended by purely verbal, and often unintentional, offenses can be so immune and supportive to unimaginable cruelty against human beings.

I understand that she would likely be the first in line calling for a firing of a conservative professor, but wishing for other people to lose their jobs based on an opinion they expressed is not right. Whoever put that petition together is asking to be fired next as the revolution will eventually come for them as well and by their actions they are justifying this “cancel people who disagree with me” behavior.

      1. I’m against firing her, too, of course. I’m a free speech absolutist and believe she should be left in peace to say whatever she wants.

She seems to have tenure, though, so I don’t think she’s at much risk here.

This is such a double standard take from Yale. Was a conservative professor to say something controversial he would be fired immediately.

              1. I don’t think people even begin to intuit what’s happening at the border. They got stuck on the pitiful migrant families and aren’t seeing the really terrifying dudes who buy and sell these migrants like so much trash. People watch all the TV shows about the cartels yet it somehow doesn’t register that the border is completely open to these dudes. There’s a weekly Hamas-type showdown in Mexico’s border states and that show is coming to a town near all of us soon. We already have MS-13 beheading people in New Jersey. It’s going to get much worse at this clip.

Read the testinomy below. A large % of Gazans are ready to do the same with their own hands. Many others support this with happiness. Those people are not aliens; they are a product of their society just like Russians in Bucha.

In the first home he and his colleagues entered “we see a pregnant lady lying on the floor, and then we turn her around and see that the stomach is cut open, wide open. The unborn baby, still connected with a umbilical cord, was stabbed with a knife. And the mother was shot in the head. And you use your imagination, trying to figure out what came first.”

      in the neighboring house.

“In the living room we see two parents, mother and father, with hands tied behind their backs. Lying by their side were two small children, with their hands also tied behind their back. They were all burned to death. The terrorists were sitting at the table and eating while they torched them to death.”

“I saw a dead mother holding her dead baby, both killed with a single bullet that went through them. I saw 20 children shot and burned and piled together in two piles.”

  3. What looks most important today:

Soon we’ll see UN condemn Israel again and public opinion turn against us in the West, even more than now.

    Why?

Israel is preparing for a potential ground invasion of Gaza. I hope we do invade not in order to “teach Hamas a lesson for another 20 years”, as some say, but to destroy its hold over Gaza and start a political process of power transfer within Palestinian community.

A Russian-speaking telegram blogger explained it well, imo (bolded by me):

” … what happened on Saturday with the massive and targeted massacre of the civilian population – primarily civilians, repeating in its quite deliberately organized intimidating effect the actions of the ISIS militants and a couple of other disgusting groups, like the former Jund al-Aqsa, marks the transition of the conflict to a new level. And to a new level of violence and cruelty. And it makes a clear statement in which direction Hamas will now develop and what practices it will implement, especially if the militants now manage to hold out and subsequently take over the West Bank and, who knows, part of Egyptian territory. And, if you don’t try to solve the situation now, in a neglected, but not critical state, this is exactly what will happen. We have seen many times in the recent past how radical Islamist groups can grow and develop and how quickly they can expand among the desperate Arab masses.

If in some territory an obvious, misanthropic, terrorist quasi-state flourishes and clearly demonstrates itself, dangerous both for neighbors and for its own population, the abscess must be cleaned out, no matter how difficult it may be. Otherwise it will only get worse and many more people will suffer. Until a certain period, you can talk, even negotiate, as long as there is hope for the opponent’s sanity. But when you cross a certain line, that’s it, there’s nothing left to talk about. And in this case, neither your political nor religious beliefs are important – if only because for the terrorist guys who crossed this line “there is neither a Greek nor a Jew”

But we need pre-prepared camps, tents, doctors, food supplies, and security forces, because very different people will flee. And for all this there is only one option – the assistance of Egypt and Egyptian territory, another question is that the Egyptian authorities themselves are not eager to help their brothers from Gaza, knowing full well that not only widows and orphans, but also very unpleasant individuals will infiltrate to them. But the only thing the world community can do now is to take care of saving innocent and peaceful people. And, at the same time, solve a long-standing problem. Moreover, no one offers real alternatives.”

  4. Soon there will be more photos of dead civilians in Gaza. Look at the role of the UN. Helpful as usual.

// The IDF issued instructions overnight on Friday for Gazans to evacuate the northern part of the Palestinian enclave within 24 hours, potentially signaling an imminent ground incursion by Israeli forces to clear out Hamas presence there.

Stéphane Dujarric, a UN spokesperson, urged the IDF to rescind the evacuation order, asserting that the move, which would require the relocation of 1.1 million people, is impossible without causing “severe humanitarian consequences.” He emphasized that the IDF’s order also applies to all UN teams and civilians taking shelter in its facilities, including schools, hospitals and clinics.

    AND

// Hamas calls on Palestinians to “remain steadfast in your homes and to stand firm in the face of this disgusting psychological war waged by the occupation,” according to a statement from its authority for refugee affairs.

    AND

// A Gazan resident speaking to The Times of Israel on condition of anonymity confirms that Hamas is preventing residents of the north of the strip from evacuating to the south, following an evacuation order issued by the IDF for Friday morning.

“When they find people going to their cars, they force them to go back,” the Gazan man says.//

    1. The Human Rights Commission was warning the IDF not to use phosphorus bombs in Gaza at the exact time when Russia was actually using phosphorus bombs in Avdiivka. About which nobody had a comment.

Of course, it’s a lot more important to chide Israel than notice what Russia is doing.

Ukraine and Israel need to win and then change the world. Get rid of the UN, the NATO, and all those useless whiners. Create real military alliances between countries with real armies. That’s what needs to happen.

      1. \ Why haven’t these people overthrown the bastards yet? Surely they outnumber them?

The same reason Russians haven’t overthrown their own bastards:

        a) they agree with their governments and cheer on war crimes as long as they themselves pay zero price

        b) “The bastards” are organized, strong and receive wide support from the governed, while the opposition is few, weak and helpless.

Here are the details in Palestinian case:

“The Battle of Gaza, also referred to as Hamas’s takeover of Gaza, was a military conflict between Fatah and Hamas that took place in the Gaza Strip between June 10 and 15, 2007. It was a prominent event in the Fatah–Hamas conflict, centered on the struggle for power after Fatah lost the parliamentary elections of 2006. Hamas fighters took control of the Gaza Strip and removed Fatah officials. The battle resulted in the dissolution of the unity government and the de facto division of the Palestinian territories into two entities, the West Bank governed by the Palestinian National Authority, and Gaza governed by Hamas.

The ICRC estimated that at least 118 people were killed and more than 550 were wounded during the fighting in the week up to 15 June.”

        AND regarding (over)throwning

” Hamas militants kidnapped an officer in a Fatah-linked security force, took him to the roof of a 15-story apartment building and threw him off.”

The same kind of motivation and inner resolve required to overthrow the bastards is probably just the sort of motivation and resolve you’d need to… get yourself and your family to somwhere, anywhere, more congenial.

So there’s that. It’s a population that’s been ruthlessly de-selected for talent and ambition since the 60s, no?

        1. “pay zero price…”

There’s the crux, though… the price they pay is having to live with a crap economy, under an incredibly corrupt government, that uses them as human shields whenever it faces an outside threat. That’s a huge price.

  5. Wow, I haven’t known this one more thing to thank EU for:

“Just three months ago, EU’s envoy to Gaza, Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff, took a provocative paraglide flight over Gaza, despite Israel’s efforts to prevent the use of such equipment due to fears of terrorist attacks. “This is the first flight in the history of Gaza,” declared the European envoy, a statement that in hindsight appears both prophetic and shocking. “We are showing you the way forward… You too can do it! Free Palestine!” At least 1,300 Israelis were murdered in Hamas terror attack which used dozens of such paraglides”

  7. Now read this telegram post by Виктор Андрусив and became worried (see below). Btw, I’ve started watching “Стратегические и тактические ошибки Израиля: взгляд из Украины. Андрусив, Куса, Романенко” and saw an example of how Israel truly is losing the information war. Андрусив himself said that 40 murdered children is a fake since Israel didn’t share photos. We never share such photos, never, yet after 7.10 we changed the position a bit for the first time and shared several photos of murdered children with foreign press. We do not publish them on Israeli news sites, btw.

    1. This is an impossible situation for Israel because with every passing hour the initial shock of Saturday’s horror dissipates and the usual narrative of evil Israel resurfaces. If there’s no response now, later it would become even harder. As we’ve seen with Ukraine, if you don’t respond at once, you never get to respond. People get used to one side suffering and the other never getting as much as a scratch, and that’s it. Wiping out Belgorod on February 22, 2022 (or better yet, in 2014) would have won us the war a long time ago and everybody would have accepted it. But look where we are now. Look what it’s costing. And we are still waiting to retaliate.
