Worthwhile Education

I’m finding these Bible quotes everywhere around the house:

The Christian school education is worth every penny. My kid goes to school, and I don’t need to worry about what she’s being taught and whether I’ll have to feel like my Dad must have felt when I came back from my Soviet school and recited the propaganda.

  1. The little protestant schools I mostly went to as a kid were not any better than public schools, academically (but just by being able to un-invite problem kids, 100x better behaviorally!), but they did a fantastic job of Bible/religious literacy. Good to know that’s still a thing. Sometimes I joke that by the time I finished grade school, I knew my Bible so well I couldn’t keep being a protestant 😉

    1. Oh, that’s a good one, about being a protestant. I love it.

I love this school because it’s small, homey, lots of outside time, and the kids are all great. Everybody knows everybody. I’m still considered very exotic, and kids are extremely curious about me but that’s unavoidable.

  2. Clarissa, I kind of missed it. How old is Klara? 6 or 7 years old? Is it first grade in American schools or still compulsory kindergarten stage?

She writes so well, like 2nd-3rd grader, which is 7-8 years old in Israel.

    1. Yes, she’s in second grade. She’ll be 8 in February. She has the vocabulary I don’t often see in college students, so I’m very proud.

      Time flies, eh?

  3. A solution to the Hamas Gaza Tunnel defence

Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when carbon monoxide builds up in the blood. When too much carbon monoxide is in the air, the body replaces the oxygen in the red blood cells with carbon monoxide. This can lead to serious tissue damage, or even death.

Carbon monoxide is gas that has no odor, taste or color. Burning fuels, including gas, wood, propane or charcoal, make carbon monoxide. Appliances and engines that aren’t well vented can cause the gas to build up to dangerous levels. A tightly enclosed space makes the buildup worse.

Anyone exposed to carbon monoxide needs to get into fresh air and seek medical care right away.

  4. cliff, Clarissa, we had been talking a lot about why Egypt is unready to let ONE Palestinian enter it, but missed the inner context. I hadn’t known the following despite being an Israeli Jew.

Why Egypt Leaves Palestinians in Gaza to Die
The Jewish state has long been a useful villain in Egyptian conspiracy theories. Now that might be backfiring on Egyptians and Gazans at once.
