A Historic Chance

The new president of Argentina officially rejected Russia’s invitation to join BRICS.

I told you, the guy is solid. Latin America has finally received a chance of leaving the backwater of history and becoming something. Whether it uses that chance or not remains to be seen but it’s a big, unexpected development.

The new world order is forming at this very moment.

I agree with this but think that refusing the chance to join BRICS+ is a mistake. I think the new world order is going to grow out of BRICS+ and the Global South. Argentina is in terrible financial shape and owe body and soul to the IMF or to say it another way under the thumb of the United States.

    1. The IMF provides emergency loans to countries that borrow more money than they can afford to pay back. These loans obviously come with strings attached, which makes the IMF a convenient scapegoat, but ultimately, Argentina is the source of Argentina’s problems.

Borrowing money from Russia or China is like going to a loan shark after you’ve maxed out your credit card.

      1. I agree. Argentina has been messing up for decades. The stupid peronismo just won’t go away. It’s boring, it’s annoying, and it won’t be solved by anybody except Argentineans themselves. Hopefully, they are finally fed up with the dysfunction and are ready to get out of this mess.

    2. “Global South” is a leftist slogan, like “BLM”. BRICS is organized by Russia, which is hardly South of anything except the Arctic. And it’s a million times better to be “under the thumb” of the US than Russia. Just ask Cubans or Venezuelans. Yes, Argentina has problems. But compared to Cuba, its problems are tiny pinpricks compared to gushing, suppurating sores.

Cool story, bro. Meanwhile BRICS couldn’t even make BRICS… the name BRIC came from an investment abbreviation from Goldman effin’ Sachs (later S was added for affirmative action). And when you look at the countries you have a panoply of terrible governments including the one that’s trying to get WWIII started and arguably the worst Chinese leader…. ever.
A new world order founded by those bozos is pure dystopia.
