Almost Enough

“Who sold the first American weapons to Ukraine? President Trump – Javelins,” [Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Minister] Kuleba said. “Who started the program of free transfer of the first naval vessels, Island and Mark-6 type boats to Ukraine? Trump. Who fought Nord Stream 2 and sanctioned the famous but now forgotten Russia’s Fortuna vessel that laid this pipeline? It was Trump.”

All true. This is almost enough to get me to forgive the immigration fail, the Fauci debacle and the BLM enabling. Almost.

Trump was always good to Ukraine but a lot less good to Americans. I can’t completely disregard that.

  1. The judges that saved so many lives by turning the tide on the Kovid Karen’s and medical fascisti were put in because Trump kept his campaign promise to appoint from the Federalist society lists. It’s hilarious, because that’s not what Republicans, no matter what they promise on the campaign trail do.

The only reason to vote for the Big T in 2016 was that he wasn’t America’s answer to Dilma on steroids. The reasons to vote for him in 2020 were 1. Things were going pretty well economically, and he respected federalism enough to give free states their rein. 2. He would have swung the 9th circuit Court back to sanity.3. No WW3 and no Russia in bed with China. 4. …

I’ve got.a list somewhere of the win-loss lists of what we gained, lost, and kept under Trump. “The perfect us the enemy of the good” Though I do not know if any of that calculus applies now.

Mrs Clarissa needs to do what is best for her country, just as Americans need to do what is best for ours.

  2. I know that you are coming at this from a Ukrainian PoV so this maybe a bit tangential: nonetheless, I believe onr of the absolute triumphs of Trump’s foreign policy were Abraham Accords between Israel and middle-eastern nations such as UAE and Bahrain. Especially given the current mess in Gaza, I remember with painful nostalgia the picture of Burj Khalifa lit up with a picture of menorah on Hanukkah that year.

On the domestic front, the DoJ under Trump administration imposing bankruptcy-inducing fines on Purdue Pharma was the high point in my opinion. Plus inflation wasn’t this bad even during pandemic.
