Long Game

People say she should drop out but that would be an insane move. Anything can happen before next November. Trump can get arrested, have a stroke, die, God forbid. I’d stay put for as long as possible because why not?

Besides, there are quite a few liberals who’d go with Haley over Biden. This means they have made an imaginative leap to voting Republican. Thus an awakening begins. Forget about this dud of an election. We need to look into the future.

  1. “With Trump, Republicans have lost almost every competitive election”

Attitude! I like it! Maybe she has the balls (so to speak) for a fight after all….. Don’t appease Trumpoids (like De Santis did) point out his very real weaknesses as a candidate (no coattails is a big one).

Too many project fantasies onto Trump and expect things from him that are impossible (even if he wanted, which is doubtful).

And…. age related cognitive issues….. are starting to be a lot more apparent with him….

    1. “He appointed conservative justices to SCOTUS!” But what’s the use of these justices then go and vote to increase illegal immigration?

People live on the world of words. They accept words as a substitute for reality, and that makes them perennial victims. Who cares about “conservative justices” who vote ultra-liberal? Who cares about border walls that don’t keep anybody out? Wfo cares about Jerusalem embassies that don’t have an effect on anything?

People accept these rhetorical wins and eagerly take real-life losses.

      1. And then Matt Gaetx goes “for every white Karen we lose, there’s a Julio and a Jamal ready to sign up”. It’s insane, this stubborn belief that there’s a large contingent of Jamals ready to go Republican.

  2. Republicans have kind of lost their minds with Trump. He’s clearly not a winner and is very likely to AGAIN lose them the election against a weak Biden.

This is just a cult of personality thing and it’s very unhealthy. It’s not about policy, what’s best for the future, it’s just irrationally backing someone because of emotions.

  3. I’m not a fan of Haley, but she is smart to stay in the race. If something serious does happen to Trump before the convention she will already have a chunk of delegates committed to her from the primaries and she will be in the best position to pull in others to put her over the top.

  4. I hate Trump with a bitter passion, I almost always vote Democrat, and I would vote Nikki Haley over Biden for one very simple, petty reason: To watch liberal heads explode when America’s First Woman President is NOT a liberal white woman. They wouldn’t know how to process the notion that Haley won in a country that rejected Clinton. They’re convinced that she lost because of sexism rather than her own flaws. I hate Trump but I’m not blind to Clinton’s flaws. She lost because she was too weak to defeat the orange idiot.

i would simultaneously love and hate spending four years watching dumbass liberals explain that Nimarata Nikki Randhawa Haley won because of racism and sexism. And we all know that they would twist it into that. And I would just laugh and laugh and laugh some more as they flailed around with their dumbass arguments.

    1. I could also see myself voting for Haley over Biden. She is palatable and appears competent, but also I just want to get out of the pre-historic age where dinosaurs ruled politics. Many of us are sick of these power hungry octogenarians refusing to let go of power.

      1. Totally with you. The sight of the doddering old men and women who just can’t let go is sad to behold. Only a hyper partisan doesn’t notice that both Biden and Trump are in mental and physical decline.

    2. “NOT a liberal white woman”

I had no idea she wasn’t white…. I just saw she has an Indian name a few days ago, previously I had always thought of her as “White Kamala”….

Not crazy about her stand on issues but she’s younger than a dinosaur so…. full marks for that. More people born after 1970 please… is that too much to ask?

    Have you met any?

The War Karen is not favored by any that I know. It’s early days, however, as you point out. And the Vichy right will keep her well-funded.

Aside from being “not Trump” and “not Biden”, of course. That partly worked for Mr. Trump in 2020: “He might be a crony-capitalist Democrat slut, but at least he is not Mrs. Clinton.” But! And! He also had the whole MAGA thing going for him.

What do you perceive Ms Haley has on the positives / energizing side? It does not need to be substantive, as Mr. Trump proved.

    1. Oh yes. My wokest friend told me the other day that she prefers Haley to Biden.

How is Haley more for war than anybody else, though? I’m not following this cycle much, so I probably lost some nuance.

I don’t like Haley but she has one huge, obvious advantage over both Biden and Trump: she’s not elderly and senile. I’d say that’s a pretty big deal.

I remember how soul killing it was when it seemed that it would be Hillary vs ¡Jeb! I’m hoping against hope that something will happen and either Biden or Trump will realize they’re too old for this nonsense….

Harris vs Haley would be a runaway win for Haley….. just putting it out there….

I don’t wish anything bad on either…. beyond the realization they’re way too old for this shit (if you’ll pardon my Francais).

On the other hand, self-knowledge of that couuld would be a world shaking catastrophe for Trump whose whole shtick depends on him denying reality.

Biden would just wander off and look for little girls whose parents will let him sniff their hair….

OK, maybe Divine intervention will cause both of them to come to Jesus, be reborn into the light, and realize that they need to do what’s best for the country.

Whatever Trump’s surface religious propensities, he grew up in the New Thought milieu, and really does seem to hold to its tenets– that whole you-can-remake-reality-through-positive-thinking stuff. I’m sure it goes a long way in business and makes a good campaign, but not so great for govt admin. Biden… in any sane world he’d be at home, being made comfortable by professional caretakers, not boosted with drugs and paraded around like a sad marionette as the POTUS. Sigh.

May God grant them both all that is needful for their salvation.

  6. I have not paid attention to US politics since I stopped liking Sanders shortly after 2016, but not I am intrigued about what she has to say. I genuinely hope she will stay in the race.
