A Brain on Partisanship

People are getting completely delusional. Joe Biden is currently president. He could enforce existing laws to address these problems. The “border deal” was only necessary because he refuses to do so. Joe Biden fully owes the border crisis. Just like Donald Trump did when he was president.

It’s scary to observe how political partisanship wipes out every shred of intellect.

  1. I don’t believe Trump is behind everything, but Republicans are coming out really bad when it comes to helping Ukraine. It was their idea to link Ukraine and immigration, two completely separate topics. And now that Biden has caved on immigrantion, they still don’t want to give Ukraine any aid. Their truly showing their true colors: do absolutely nothing, other than oppose everything Democrats do, even if millions of lives and global order is on the line.

      1. That’s debatable. What’s not debatable is that tying Ukrainian aid to one of the most intractable and “unsolvable” problems in American politics is beyond ridiculous and done in bad faith.

        1. Biden is right now, today sitting on a large stock of weapons that will be destroyed because they are outdated. He could easily send them to Ukraine instead. He doesn’t need Congress for that. Instead, he’s cynically lying about it in order not to stem the flow of migrants.

Both sides are being mega cynical and dishonest.

          1. My understanding is Biden cannot just raid US weapons inventory and hand them to Ukraine, no matter how old and decrepit; there are procedures that must be followed. He needs to account for this using funds that are currently blocked by Republicans.

  2. “He could enforce existing laws …”

Dangerous territory for these people: once you admit to a standard that can be established as a uniform code of conduct, all of those precious relativisms and identities wither away in the face of having to live up to those standards without special pleadings.

It’s so much more pleasing to the Progressivist that there are possible worlds out there where people are intolerant of sanitation, plumbing, and roads, in which the Progressivist may hope to do so much to change them.

Besides, enforcing the laws is a rear guard action once the standards have been ignored, one best left to Conservatives so they may be the ones painted with broad brush strokes of failure, leaving the Progressives free to commit more acts of sabotage.
