At the executive meeting of the editorial board, we are discussing a possibility of dedicating a special issue of the journal to the literature of the Ukrainian Diaspora.
“And Russian!” somebody immediately pipes up. “That will attract more people!”
The expression “facepalm” never held more meaning for me.

Another person present asked me if there was a way to tie the Ukrainian issue to George Floyd. I shot that idea down, too, feeling like I was tearing lollipops out of toddlers’ mouths.

When you have nothing tangible or relevant to contribute, but you want to be noticed anyway, always suggest making the tent bigger.
That marks the desired territory much in the same way as a cat but with slightly less smell.
