Movie Notes: Robbie Starbuck’s The War on Children

I watched this movie with N to get him caught up on why we aren’t letting Klara watch YouTube. N is very innocent about these things and he needs to be forewarned. In the famous program of ideological control*, he’s now somewhere on step 2.

The movie served the purpose I had set for it but it’s not a great film. It’s very low-budget, which is understandable, and it’s not well-done. It’s a collection of interviews interspersed with read-aloud text that’s delivered in unnatural voices and from uncomfortable camera angles. Nobody who doesn’t already agree with every word will watch it because you need to be very dedicated to the cause to suffer through the talentless pastiche of interviews and stock images.

The Right urgently needs somebody with Michael Moore’s talent**. We have all the ideas but no talent to make them popular or even just known. The Left has talent but no ideas. I don’t know, maybe it’s time to convert some gifted people and lure them over from the Left?

The movie, well, it’s all true what it says but one almost wishes that the important things it says weren’t true because they are tarnished by the medium.

* Step one. This isn’t happening and you are a bigot for suggesting it;

Step two. It’s happening but very rarely and you are a bigot for making a big deal about it;

Step three. It’s happening a lot and you are a bigot for not celebrating it.

** Yes, he’s a very talented filmmaker. And it’s precisely the incapacity to recognize the difference between talent and correct opinions that makes our side so lacking in talent. We scare people away, and that’s self-defeating.

  1. “Right urgently needs somebody with Michael Moore’s talent”

    Thinking with my typing fingers.

    The left can’t meme, the right can’t entertain…..

    When the right tries to entertain it’s as awkward and clumsy as North Korean movies…. not it’s worse, NKorean films are actually entertaining in their own weird way…..

    The reason that right memes work and rightwing entertainment doesn’t is that it doesn’t let up… just hits you over the head (fine for memes but dreary in longer forms).

    The left can’t just hit and run with memes they get all didactic and obtuse but the wordiness gives their entertainment time to breathe between the propaganda peaks….

    Pacing is everything, rather than message movies right leaning artists just need to tell interesting stories about interesting people without preaching.

    1. They do this weird thing in the movie where Starbuck and his wife are narrating while the camera films them on an angle. As a result, they are staring not into the camera but into a corner that the camera doesn’t show. To any normal person, this kind of delivery looks as shifty and dishonest. You really don’t have to be a Fellini to figure out that in a movie you don’t look into the camera while in a documentary you do. Half the documentary is the two of them just standing there, staring into a corner. It’s creepy.

  2. Here’s a tech hack for things you could download from Why Tee privately: use Tor Browser to go to an Invidious site that allows downloading.

    Then the download activity doesn’t risk “putting a black mark on your permanent record” (RIP Mojo Nixon) with your ISP.

    While in Tor Browser you could also use a Why Tee downloader site, but some of those don’t work well with privacy browsers in general.

    As for the legality, I couldn’t give a toss.

    Why Tee created this situation where you have to resort to downloading to keep from spreading memetic hazards around your family.

      1. I have worked in Gaza. Israel gave up all of Gaza to set up a Hong Kong model Island Palestinian State back in 2005. We gave them the famous Gush Katif organic farms and several amazing milk farms (assets which i personally saw with my own eyes) which consisted of an engineered rotating slab of cement which permitted milk-cows to depart from their milking and return back to their pens. This revolutionary milking methodology permitted in about the same time-period milking approximately double the amount of cows in the same time period as it take in the standard T-bone milking system used across the world by dairy farms.

        These tremendous assets the Palestinians destroyed. In the 2006 elections Hamas threw the PA ie the Olso Accords out the window! Between 2007 to 2024 Hamas has attacked Israel four times resulting in Wars. The Hamas Charter calls for the total destruction of Israelis from the River to the Sea! Now we Israelis no longer feel generous toward these Arab pigs.

        1. Ah, that’s a mighty strong bit of rage you have there …

          As an Advocate, might I provide a bit of information that may encourage it?

          One of the things the Israeli press doesn’t like to talk about is how the Israeli government made transfers directly to Yasser Arafat’s bank accounts for PA payments rather than paying the PA as an organisation.

          Somewhere to the tune of 2 billion USD the Israeli people got shekeled and jived (can’t resist the pun) in the hopes of a “lasting peace” which was really a matter of funding one terrorist in particular.

          When Arafat died, it was then possible to push aside the PA, being the state-sponsored golem for funding terrorists in order to attempt to manufacture notionally peaceful ones, and Hamas stepped into the power vacuum.

          But the truth is that Israelis were conned by the PA’s chief giro technician into believing there ever would be a peace instead of a never-ending shifting of bank balances in order to keep his mouth shut.

          And so on top of that 2 billion USD transferred directly to Yasser Arafat, Israelis also did all of these other things in order to make things viable, not understanding the backroom deals between regime leaders that inevitably meant it was for naught.

          Does this make you rage even harder?

          Good!

          Then perhaps you’ll demand a full accounting of both Israeli and Arab people responsible for this situation!

          But you shouldn’t feel all that generous, that’s entirely spot on, because it’s all giro transfers to people extorting Israelis so that they can maintain a “well-controlled” bunch of terrorists.

          Whether they’re really Israeli, really Arab, or really something else invokes Talleyrand’s concepts regarding dates.

          But don’t rage here about it, rage at the people actually responsible.

          1. Apparently you did not hear the latest. These rag heads request a cease fire for the 30 day Ramadan fast. Slaughter 1200 Israelis in a day and expect Israelis to show mercy? The IDF shall stomp their brains to pulp during their Religious Ramadan fast to assist them to experience what the truly poor who have nothing to eat or drink actually feel blah blah.

            Israel approaches the Balestine situation (Arabs cannot pronounce the letter P), we made a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza to give these dhimmi Arab refugees a “piece of the action”, “a stake in the game”, “something to lose”.

            “”””When Arafat died, it was then possible to push aside the PA etc etc etc”””” Egyptian born Arafat died at the height of the 2nd Intafada which he chose to initiate. He left Gaza in 2004 and the PLO lost the 2006 elections to Hamas. Mahmoud Abbas replaced dead Arafat in 2005. Gazans repudiated the Arafat declaration that only the PLO served as the “sole representative of the Balestinian people”. LOL
