Stupid Intelligence

Yes, AI will replace certain human beings. We now know exactly whose jobs are at risk, and I, for one, can’t say I mind:

All this effort to create artificial intelligence, and it turned out to be mighty stupid.

  1. I think it’s a mistake to call it a ‘mistake’ or a sign that AI isn’t good. This shows the extent to which Google, the single most powerful source of information in the world, will distort the truth to serve its ideology.

So when you ask Gemini for pictures of physicists in the 17th century and it spits out images of four black men and women, it shows in pictorial form what the regime has been doing for the last decade or so: systematic erasure of white people and western civilization. The reaction has been intense only because a picture is worth a thousand words etc.

It’s not the AI. AI technology is already good enough to give you very accurate answers about most things. But if you intentionally train it on ideologically-biased data, it’ll give you biased results. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say.

“7.4.1.2 is the smoking gun. It documents the use of extremely ideological datasets which prioritize anti-white bias over accurate representations of facts. This is likely the direct cause of Gemini’s refusal to depict white people and its broader ideological bias.”

Still, the correct response is to keep mocking it. Regimes can handle hate (even prefer it sometimes) but they can’t handle being called stupid. Someone in the silicon valley making fun of a Google VP at a party for making a shit product will do more damage to them than right wingers bitching about it on twitter. The only thing that technocrats fear is being called incompetent.

    1. It’s two very white people who were in charge of the AI. I will never comprehend why they are so eagerly erasing their own civilization. When I see a white colleague say “white people” with an expression of pure disgust, I always wonder, “your children are white. Are you disgusted by them, too?” When I ask, the answer is always, “I’m not raising them to be like that.” But like what? Transracialism is a big no-no, so they’ll always be white. It’s the weirdest mentality.

      1. Firstly, talking about the white civilization excludes a large number of people who need to be included in society somehow. Also, colonialism and the associated white supremacist ideology have a bad reputation for good reasons.

Of course, replacing white supremacist ideology with black supremacy will just make these problems worse. People are going to need to move beyond ethno-nationalist ideologies if they want to make any progress.

        1. Such a strawman argument. Nobody in 2024 is talking about “white civilization” except a handful of freaks on social media who have no power. This entire discourse rests on the assumption that the current year is 1955.

Let’s examine this further. If someone born in the west, irrespective of their race, feels “excluded” from western civilization, that says more about their inferiority complexes than anything else.

Glenn Loury is a national treasure:

I am a patriot who loves his country. I am a man of the West. I am an inheritor of its great traditions: Tolstoy is mine. Dickens is mine. Newton and Maxwell and Einstein are mine.”

That’s the thing. It’s nothing but a move, a rhetorical dodge. By complaining about “whites” they’re exonerating themselves from this critique. “Oh, we’re the good whites.”

The problem with this is that if white supremacy hangs over all of us like ether, if we’re all racist whether we acknowledge it or not (recall the Implicit Bias idea), then what made you Good? How convenient that you managed to escape this original sin!

In the current regime, denying that you’re racist is evidence of racism itself, of unacknowledged bias etc. so I think the best response is to ask them directly: “Are you a racist person?” and when they deny it, just watch them squirm. And say hey, maybe others feel the same way about themselves too. 🙂

  3. Oh, don’t tempt me. :-)

I’d feed my True Name (hat tip to Vernor Vinge) to the AI and see if I come up as worse than Hitler, but this is one temptation too many.

It’s likely to say that yes, I am in fact worse than Hitler, and then all of the necessary responses would have to happen.

After all, anti-government yet with a family that sided with Oswald Mosley, but you know what else is horrible?

I like some of Léon Krier’s architecture!

And Léon Krier likes some of Albert Speer’s architecture!

So that makes me Hitler adjacent for the AI, and you can already see how this will go …

And then I’ll have to sue Google for One Grillion Dollars, because the AI insulted me in some new and potentially lucrative ways for which I can find greedy legal counsel.

And that little Devil voice: “Sounds lovely! By all means, LETS.” :-)
