Back to COVID

I’ve got COVID, people. It’s about 80% as bad as it was when I had it the first time 3 years ago. Does anybody have recent experiences, recommendations, funny jokes?

How many days after symptoms start is it OK to go to a farmer’s market, you think?

    1. I think I got it on the airplane. The dude sitting behind me has this terrible hacking cough. I suspect him.

COVID is the same now as back in 2020 but nobody freaks out because we are now used to it. We could have been reacting calmly this entire time but instead…. Well, we all know what happened.

  1. I heard about a covid outbreak from people visiting a small town in SA a couple of months ago. It seemed a bit unusual because we didn’t hear anything in the city.

I still haven’t seen any evidence that it spreads outside so if you’re physically up to it go.

The second time I had it (may 2023 presumably – I didn’t take a test but same symptoms as the time I was tested maybe 10-20% lighter) I missed one day of class and then went back. Half the place (teachers and students) missed a few days over a period of about two weeks and then it was over and back to normal.

Early to mid June there was a fair number of students missing classes claiming ‘colds’ (and more than a few coughing their way through classes) I think it might have been another round of covid….

  3. As a result of all the horrible coughing illnesses we’ve had in the last couple of years, I have discovered mullein, and it is almost miraculous. I order it by the 1-pound bag (dried herb) and keep it around for all dry/convulsive coughing type complaints. I use my coffee press to make a quart of strong tea with it, at a time, and its very impressive anti-spasmodic properties allow me to get a good night’s sleep even when I have bronchitis. Wish I’d known about it years ago!

That is not, of course, medical advice as I am not a doctor, and do not even play a healer in D&D. A mere quaint slice-of-life anecdote 😉
