Why I’m not Voting for Trump

This right here is why I’m not voting for Trump:

If he knew how to do this, why didn’t he in his first term? What changed so dramatically that he knows how to do it now? These grandiose promises make me feel treated like an imbecile whose memory gets wiped out every evening.

Kamala is exactly like this, which is why I’m not voting for her either. She says she knows how to improve the economy. She’s in the WH right now. Why isn’t she doing it, then? To show up Biden? Or is she saying he’s sabotaging the economy on purpose?

This “I’ll do everything differently” spiel works for new politicians. But both current candidates spent 4 years in the WH. We know their record. Let’s not allow ourselves to be gaslit by them yet again.

  1. This is exactly why I vote for Cthulhu every election, politicians are lying shitheads who can’t be trusted and who’ll say anything to get elected. One benefit of voting for Cthulhu is that he’ll eat all the Congresspeople and everyone will suffer, then we can start all over again. Then again, I don’t want Cthulhu who to get heartburn 😂

      1. Yeah, I do a write-in vote each election. I haven’t voted for an actual candidate since 2000 when I voted for Gore, I got annoyed that people thought Bush was evil and was some sort of fascist when he turned out to be a bumbling dope. That’s why I how every election cycle, people think it’s the end of the world if their guy doesn’t get elected

        1. Reminds me of an exchange my wife and I had in South Africa (we were there for a conference) in summer 2007. We were on a camera safari and one of the locals asked if we were Americans, and we said we were. “Uh-huh, Bush,” they said with a chuckle, and we chuckled back. By then he was something of an international punchline, and we were fine with that, because on some level, we were confident that our country was stronger than a “bumbling dope” leader.

While I’m less sanguine about our country’s future if my “guy” doesn’t get elected, I’ll definitely grant that the world won’t end.

    1. There is generally w third party choice. It’s kind of a protest vote, but if enough people voted third party maybe things could start to change. We badly need more than the two preselected options we get every election.

  2. Either Harris or Trump is going to be elected President in November. Since you can’t avoid having one of them in charge for the next four years, I recommend putting your dislike of them both aside, and voting for the one less likely to try to carry out some policy that you’d REALLY hate — such as Kamala’s plan to bring back broad-based price controls.

      1. That’s why Cthulhu’s campaign slogan is Vote For the Greater Evil 😂 But seriously, I hate the idea of voting for the lesser evil since politicians are lying shitheads. Both Trump and Kamala are sucky candidates, Trump is an asshole and a felon and Kamala is a moron and a tramp who married a cuck, Cthulhu is the better choice

        1. I think it’s another Weird Al for President year here. I even have the T-shirt, and I wear it to the polling station 😉

Whoever you put in the “president” blank, just make sure you vote on the ballot measures, judges, sheriff, county comissioners, mayor, school board, dogcatcher, supervisor of elections, city manager, state legislature, and all those other offices that make a gigantic difference in how honest/corrup, how livable/unlivable your neck of the woods is.

          1. Fact, as the young people like to say. It took me much longer than it should have to see the great importance of the local elections. The changes we would like to see start there.

          1. People are actually excited about both these candidates. I’ll never be able to understand it. Reluctantly choosing one because you want your side to win, OK, I get it. But actually being enthusiastic about one of them – it’s incomprehensible.

        2. You live in a deep blue state, so your vote for President doesn’t matter anyway. Vote third party or write someone in as a protest vote. The only reason to vote for one of the major party candidates if you’re not in a swing state is if you care about the popular vote.

          1. I know my vote changes nothing but I like talking through my thinking process. It helps me settle things down in my head. I’m a slow, plodding thinker and I require a lot of repetition as a result.
