I remember how some very, very progressive people would come here and throw tantrums when I said Snowden was Putin’s little poodle. No, they claimed. He was only fellating Putin out of necessity, not love. These were very, very progressive people who used “conservative” as an insult.
I wonder if they received new talking points since then.
Well, I think it’s disturbing that a western government would arrest the owner of a messaging platform. What’s next, Elon?

This is an enemy of our civilization. He exists so that we don’t. Why should we play on his side if he plays against us?

This is a tough one, on one hand I respect Snowden for blowing the whistle on how the government spies on Americans and is involved in a lot of unsavory stuff. On the other hand, he thinks that the enemy of my enemy is a friend and that Russia is a bastion of freedom when it’s far from that, to put it mildly. It really sucks that the American government spies on its people, but perhaps it’s a necessary evil due to how many people are anti-American.
It all boils down to the fact that a lot of Americans distrust the government and believe it’s out to get them, Bush started the whole mess with the Patriot Act and the dumbass war in Iraq. The Patriot Act was un-constitutional and a violation of civil rights, unfortunately more conspiracy-minded citizens started thinking that the government was evil and out to get them which is how you end up with Q-Anon and other nonsense

Don’t reckon Mr. S has any other options now. Can’t go home. Can’t leave Russia? I think he did a real service initially, but his options are more limited now and his word should be measured accordingly.
