Columbus did some dickhead things to the natives, but it was no worse than what they did to each other. Too many people have the Howard Zinn idea that the natives were happy primitives frolicking with animals when some native tribes were vicious to other tribes and each other, the more “advanced” they were, the more atrocious their behavior. The Aztecs were the masters of human sacrifice on a grand scale, European pagans didn’t have near the number of human sacrifices and that died out after Slavs converted to Christianity

There was a post you made a few months ago about how mexicans had a choice: either identify as descendants of Cortes, or keep identifying with the defeated Aztecs. And they chose wrong. Wish I had saved it!

On the very day that the new Mexican president was sworn in this month, she once again started demanding that the King of Spain apologize for Cortés. She was making this demand in Spanish, utterly oblivious to the irony of her actions. And to top it off, she’s Jewish! What the bloody flying saucer does she have to do with Aztecs? Why does she speak in their name? Why are the other 67 indigenous groups in Mexico whom she Aztecs routinely ate less important?
It’s all completely nuts.

This whole thing with Sydney Sweeney and her breasts is absurd, both people who think her breasts ended wokeness and people who think she’s some kind of right wing icon. She’s a popular actress who’s blond, thin and has large breasts, most normal straight guys think she’s hot, that’s the lizard brain working there. A sexy actress with large breasts is not a culture war thing, it’s a Hollywood pandering thing. Thin blond women with large breasts have always been popular with American men, going back to Jean Harlow in the 30s and Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield in the 50s

She’s smart enough to understand why she gets cast and gets endorsements and to milk it for all that its worth. I have only seen her in a romcom while on a plane, the highest grossing Shakespeare adaptation of all time. She was dead eyed and had the chemistry of a rock with her co-star, but was very easy on the eyes, and for a lot of projects that’s all that’s needed.
If people managed to be normal about her, she’d be perfectly interchangeable with all of the other pretty blond women in their mid 20s who arrive in LA to chase a dream.

I didn’t hear of her either until this weird thing about her breasts showed up online, I don’t watch many modern films either. Sweeney is a dime a dozen pretty blond who stands out because she has very large breasts, the left is convinced that men who ogle her bosom are somehow right-wing
