I’m telling you, folks. He’s gone. Demons have eaten him and he no longer sees anything else. It’s useless to hope that he will realize any time soon that he’s the source of the demonic apparitions that torture him.
Everybody thinks they are a very special cookie and are immune. But if you play with demons, demons will start playing with you. And you won’t be winning that game.
This seems to be a pretty clear case of schizophrenia. I’m not a fan of Carlson’s (to put it mildly) but I think we should be hesitant to cast blame on people for their mental illnesses. Sometimes people get sick (physically or mentally) and it’s a sad fact of the human condition. Regardless, he needs help and he should stop issuing public statements while he’s in the middle of such an episode.

I actually watched the interview clip. Carlson is absolutely not well. He’s laughing semi-hysterically and at inappropriate moments; his facial expressions are odd; he’s sort of twitching. It was a bit chilling to watch someone trying to cling to their sanity. I’m shocked that people are interviewing him at this point. Any responsible person should cut the interview off very gently and lead Carlson to someone equipped to deal with a schizophrenic episode.

Yes, we can use the fashionable expression “mental illness” but what does it really explain? The guy is 50+ years old, completely functional, with no family history. Calling everything an illness helps pharma companies but I fail to see any other benefits.

The poor man has lost touch with reality and is clearly hallucinating. I’m not a fan of over-medicalization but pharmaceuticals can help people deal with hallucinations. His family should also probably remove his access to weaponry. To me, he seems very ready to snap. I’m not sure how anyone can watch that Bannon interview and think that Carlson is well. …………Do you believe that he was actually attacked by demons?

I think that if you become a loudspeaker for evil that will end up warping you. He got warped. I use the word demon as a metaphor but it’s not any more of a metaphor than mental illness. There are causes for all illness. When your mind suddenly becomes unwell at such an age, there is likely to be a reason. So no, not an actual demon. I don’t believe in actual demons. But his road wasn’t going to lead to inner peace and flourishing, that’s for sure.
The same is happening to Candace Owens. She’s talked herself into a place you can call demonic or psychotic but terminology notwithstanding, it’s a place of darkness. The darkness that she plunged herself into b

Talking in public for a living is bad for you, particularly if you’re the sort of public figure who must put out “content” (boy do I hate that word) daily in order to cling to relevance in the perpetual-scrolling age.

Nah, he’s trying to make money off Pentecostals. Speaking in tongues, demon possessions?
I think Russell Brand is hawking some kind of protection amulet.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Jordan Peterson is doing similar things too. Along with Sherri Tenpenny.
Whether you believe in their mental illnesses or demon possessions or not, it dovetails nicely with grifting the gullible from their money.

The first I heard Tucker dropping hints about demons, was back when UFOs were in the news. At the time it seemed weird, and I wondered like you, if he was trying to pander to a religious audience.
Then we had the weird thing with the dogs; and now this even weirder suggestion that nuclear weapons are literally the work of the Devil.
When someone who is otherwise rational says something insane, it can be tempting to suppose that they’re faking it. I knew a renegade physicist online who started posting about how she was being spied upon, and I thought, she must be doing this so she can get a disability pension and do her work uninterrupted. But in the end, I think she was earnest, and simply lost her reason due to the stress of her situation.
Nuclear weapons are an authentically terrible thing, and Tucker has a small-is-beautiful, appropriate-technology side to him. I first perceived that when he was speaking sympathetically about Ted Kaczynski. I think part of him would just like to retreat to his little town in Maine or wherever, to enjoy prosperity and community in peace.
Perhaps having to instead engage with the prospect of nuclear war has unhinged him, and this is the paranoid fantasy that has come bubbling out of his unconscious. Or maybe there’s someone, from Bannon’s team or Putin’s team, leading him down this path. (And just to be clear, there is no mystery about when humanity developed control over nuclear technology, just a choice of well-known milestones, whether that’s the Trinity test itself, or the earlier chain reaction achieved by Fermi at the University of Chicago.)

Watched the clip and he is clearly…. not well in any way and not well in a very big way.
That maniacal laugh at the beginning (including the word ‘insane’) is…. not calming.
At some level he realizes what he’s done and his mind is rebelling trying to keep that from conscious knowledge. Cognitive dissonance is eating him alive.
I’m also wondering about…. self-medication…
I agree that conventional pharmaceuticals in this case would be treating the symptoms and not the disease.

I think any time you’re dealing with a controversial political figure, you also can’t rule out freaky CIA shenanigans like doping people with LSD and blasting them with EMF radiation while they sleep. Which all sounds bonkers, but they are documented as having done it in the past. Why on earth would we think they are not *still* doing it?

The psycholinguist George Miller had an uncanny talent for boiling down research into easy to remember principles.
One of those is: If you want to understand what a person is saying, assume they are telling the truth (as they perceive it). Then ask questions like ‘what else would have to be true?’
If we take him at his word, he thinks:
Demons attack people at night.
He cares about the US.
Demonic powers won WWII over non-Demonic powers.
The US government is under the sway of Demonic powers.
The US government is involved in a decades long effort to kill Christians around the world.
So he cares about a country which has been under the sway of demonic powers for decades….
Cognitive dissonance…

This right here is why you will almost never hear about such things in the media. Read your comments. Go back two weeks, most of you whether you like Tucker Carlson or not would have considered him rational. However the moment anything spiritual comes up now he is mentally unstable. This right here is why you don’t hear about such things. Who would be willing to speak up when this is what they would face.
For those of you who proclaim to be christian you should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. The bible makes it clear such things happen. Even Jesus himself tossed demons out of a possessed man. For those of you who proclaim to be atheist or agnostic. Words will likely not get through to you blinded as you are. I will simply pray that you don’t encounter any demons in your own lives.
I don’t care if you think him mentally unbalanced. He woke up in his bed having been attacked. Yes if he is a bit off his game for the next little-while that is understandable. When one of you narrowly avoids death via a bad driver do you too not act somewhat different for the next hour or so. Of course you do.
We are getting closer and closer to the return of Jesus, and things will continue to grow worse and worse until he returns. I suspect more spiritual things of this nature will happen but be unreported, even as in the physical well 2nd Timothy 3 puts it nicely.
2nd Timothy 3:1-7 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
We are in the last moments of the age. If you do not know Jesus you need to find him soon as there is not much time left. We are all of us sinners, every one. Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.” Our sins damn us to hell. There is a path though. Jesus offers the gift of salvation. 2nd Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Jesus was sent by God to live a human life without sinning even once. He died on that cross, shedding his blood that all who believe would be saved.
Romans 5:6-12 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Paul makes it clear how to be saved in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
We are saved by faith in Jesus, faith in what he did and what he offers. He paid the price of your sin and offers atonement, you just have to accept it. Time is swiftly running out. At some point the rapture will occur. The dead in Christ will rise first then we who remain will be called to meet with them in the air. We will be gone, and the restraints on the wickedness in this world will be removed. At that point you will see stuff like what happened to Tucker Carlson happening everywhere. So I employ you to come to Jesus and accept his free gift of salvation as time is swiftly running out.

Fwiw, I think it’s entirely plausible he’s telling the literal truth. But I don’t think that’s the *only* plausible scenario.

Your right that its not the only plausible scenario, but I tend to take people at their word. Especially in cases like this because what reason would he have to lie? He had to have known how the world would take this. He has been in media for a long time. You mention anything spiritual and people shut down and act like they are wearing blinders.
So even if there are other possibilities, I believe he is telling the truth here.

I’m sure he’s telling the truth. But I believe in agency and free will. Tucker has been going out of his way to court demonic forces. It was his choice, insistently and consistently made. He’s now experiencing the consequences of that choice. I don’t see a reason to pretend otherwise.

@W: I don’t think he’s lying. I think he believes that he’s making profound statements about the 20th century history and I think he believes that he was mauled by demons. But, seeing/hearing demons, spirits, and other apparitions is a classic sign of schizophrenia. As Cliff and I both commented above, if you watch the interview clip, you see an unwell man: the mirthless and hysterical laughter, the darting glances, the sort-of twitching. It’s disturbing to see. His family needs to take him out of the spotlight and people need to stop interviewing him until he’s well again.

It’s a sign of schizophrenia, but it’s not *limited to* schizophrenia.
