Trudeau Resigned

Not a moment too soon, my friends. It’s time for Canada to take its own hard-right turn.

    1. I’m hearing that now that Trudeau is gone, Canadians will happily vote for the Liberal party again. Especially if the new leader is a black woman.

I’ve ran out of facepalms at this point.

  1. Out of curiosity (my exposure to Canadian conservatives is a bit limited) – are there Canadians who dream of Canada being incorporated into the USA, or is that a purely US-originating thing?

    1. Hmmm, The Great White North may be stereotypically overly polite, but remember that our national game is best described as a fight that occasionally turns into a game of hockey. Do you not know your own history, do we actually have to burn down the Whitehouse again…and on a more serious note, if American invaders capture York(Toronto) again, we are going to make you keep it ;-D

      1. Tell you what, lets make a trade, We will take the sections of Canada who aren’t insane, as well as those who live in the areas who are but would like to get away from them. In exchange we will hand over California, Michigan and Minnesota, plus a splattering of folks from Austin TX and Colorado. And on your way to joining America, you and your buddies can burn the White House again while we watch and toast marshmallows.

        That way everyone wins.

On a hilarious side note, when I wrote White House, it was red underlined because spellcheck wanted me to capitalize it. When I selected it, it offered a word change to whorehouse, which I though was absolutely hilarious and appropriate.

        1. Not a chance, the parts you want are the areas that still love this country. But I am sure we can offer you a good buy on a bunch of Liberal weenies ;-D

            1. I am very proud of proto-Canadians burning down the White House and have been proud of it since I learned of this fact, and completely independently of US or Canadian politics. 🙂 🙂

    2. Nobody wants to incorporate a 30-mullion additional California into the US. Least of all US Republicans. Trump is trolling but the only reason the joke rankles is that Canadians feel the weakness of their nation-state.

      1. Nah, you’re thinking of the weak arse Liberals of Montreal, Toronto, and parts of Vancouver, Trump detests Turdo the Second and his sychophants ;-D

      2. Exactly that. The “State of Canada” would become bigger than California. But the jokes resonates because Canada is economically weak without the US.

I am also happy that Justin is gone, obviously, but have you heard about Poilièvre’s program? Especially the CPC’s views on immigration? He will clean up some things, but will create a mess elsewhere. Ugh…

The only good thing I see coming from a Poilièvre government is that it will strengthen the PQ in Quebec.

          1. It’s vague. Everything is vague. He wants to clean up the Liberals mess on immigration (a mess, granted, but how?) and he wants to facilitate immigration procedures to reunify families (is that good in itself?).

          2. Somehow related to immigration, the Conservatives are not opposed to declaring Quebec’s law on secularism anti-constitutional (Bill 21). They are like the Liberals on that front, but they don’t have to say it loud and clear because they are not in power and they want to secure some seats in the GTA and BC…

People are tired of the Liberals and I completely understand. They want a change of government and the CPC is the natural option. But to say that the Canadian Conservative Party is inspiring is quite a stretch.

No, we are both each others largest trading partners. I am pretty sure that Trump knows his BS about trade imbalances reflects nothing more than the current high world price of oil. Much of US refinery capacity is designed to handle our heavy oil. And both of our countries economies are suffering from the mishandling of green zealots…high immigration, high taxation, and high energy costs creating high inflation/poverty amongst the working and increasingly the middle classes.

          1. What you write about trading partnership is very true. As Clarissa wrote, what is interesting in that story is how Canadian politicians react. They are so weak now!

The rest of what you wrote is, obviously, perfect for the kind of debates this blog tries to promote.

  2. This whole “america should invade canada” meme coming out of Trump is stupid and dangerous, even if it was meant as a joke. Now was the time for Trump to do issue vocal support to the right in Canada, which needs all the help it can get. Instead he went all in on this stupid joke, which makes him and his ideas politically toxic to everyone in Canada.

  3. The leader of Canada cannot provide a stronger argument for sovereignty other than some vague bullshit about trade lol.
