This is the perfect example of raising conveyor belt children for a Fordist economy.
There is no longer such an economy. Raise and nurture your child and yourself like a rare flower that’s the last of its species in the galaxy. Do the exact opposite of that 84 hours plus tiger tutor crap.
When I was teaching at university, I often had foreign students. I also had American-born students of immigrant parents. So I assumed that was the case with a Korean young lady whose English was perfect in grammar and pronunciation. During my office hours, she stopped by to ask a few questions. The questions were not about the course, but about her American fellow students. The questions were so basic that I was nonplussed. That’s when she explained to me that she was new in America. She had never even visited before. But at home in Korea, she had undergone intensive instruction in American English. In fact, she had won the national award in her Korean age group for English proficiency.
She was a product of Tiger Mom parenting in Korea.

And his most famous work, the Psychology of Human Misjudgment, was a repudiation of academic psychology; he also frequently dismissed mainstream economics. A voracious reader, but compare with the 16-hour a day cram-school student: similarities superficial.
In short, this is a basic error, the same kind when normiecons talk about third-worlder “family values.” All cultures have at some level of abstraction similar institutions, but what they *mean* by them are quite incompatible. “Work ethic” in America & Korea are very different
