Press Strategy

I’m refusing all requests from the press to talk about the collapse at my university. The only reason I’m refusing is because the union asked the membership to do that. The union has its own press strategy, the leadership says, and please to let them unfold it.

I’m putting a lot of trust in the union here. Let’s hope it doesn’t sell us out.

I don’t know, am I being dumb trusting the union as much as I do?

    1. This is difficulties for me because I’m not responsible only for myself but for the entire department while it still exists. If it were only myself, I’d totally do as you say.

I don’t know, this is hard. Never again will I be responsible for people.

      1. Leadership entails stepping into the dark unknown. Yechuda jumped into the Sea of Reeds and only thereafter did it split! The Union did it fight for you when they collapsed your classes and tenure?

        1. I hope they don’t betray us to the administration.

The administration is doing the most bizarre, underhanded things to sabotage us. The date of the Open Forum we are supposed to have about this has been changed 3 times to discourage turnout. Every time I have people cancelling things and rearranging schedules in order to attend when suddenly it is announced that the Open Forum has been moved yet again.

  1. Follow your instincts. Do you have any inkling as to what the strategy is? What they might say or do as opposed to what you might say or do?

It would be a great time to get publicity for your other ventures.

  2. That the union could possibly think they articulate this situation better than you is a huge mistake in itself! You must know the public-facing officials in the union. Are they any good?
