One can have weak dopamine receptors, aggressive tendencies, a strong narcissistic component, extreme introversion, hyperactivity, etc. We are born with these things. But we can do something positive and productive with them. Or not.
I have all the above-listed things. Mentioning them to me as a criticism is a waste of time. Of course, I’m aggressive and narcissistic. I wouldn’t be a great teacher and a strong leader without them.
🙂
Once in a while, people call me short and expect me to be offended.
So awkward.

Out of curiosity, how do you determine what is nature and what is nurture in your case and in general?

I recently read a book about weak dopamine receptors, and it’s scary how much I recognized myself. Many people have the exact same thing! I kind of thought I was unique but no such luck.
The aggressive “teacher” gene, my pedagogy professor back in Ukraine told me that this is an unlearned natural gift. We are all teachers for as many generations backwards as we have kept track. That’s got to be genes.
The narcissistic component made me a public speaker even when I was a painfully shy teenager. I was dying of shyness in every situation except in front of a large audience where I’d suddenly get a loud voice, a presence and complete calm. My sister, who makes money by public speaking, had to learn, do workshops, train. And for me, it happens like a physical phenomenon.
