Sad Over Canada

I’m so sad, people. I have family in Canada. This is heartbreaking. Canada had a historic chance and pissed it away because of its perennial inferiority complex towards Americans.

Weak, careless, unserious nation-building always leads to this. Let this be a lesson for all of us. If you don’t know who the beaver’s tail you are beyond “I’m not that dude”, you will be had every way from Saskatoon and back again.

  1. I totally understand Canadian anger and sense of betrayal. They are 100% right to be threatened because Trump’s tariffs are an existential threat to them. His non stop threats to make them the 51st state also sounds very much like Putin. Why did he need to do that? What is the strategy and/or objective here?

This disaster is on Trump, and I’m very afraid this will be one of many more to come.

      1. They absolutely are and will own anything bad that comes from this.

My issue is with the absolute hate that many Canadians are feeling. It gets to a point where we enter a no-win situation where they do stupid shit like align with China just to pivot away from the US. The issue is where feelings and emotions take over, and like I said, all for what?

Americans also don’t really understand how privileged they are to have two friendly neighbors on both sides. Trump is pissing that all away.

        1. My mother is undergoing treatment for an advanced form of cancer, and it’s such a mess. One has to beg for every appointment. The oncologist is overwhelmed to the point of barely keeping track of patients. I don’t know how many mistakes are made because the doctors are overwhelmed and overworked. At the best hospital in Montreal, there’s such a state of confusion and mess that it’s shocking. You have to beg for each procedure, each blood test.

Canadians seem to have accepted this as normal and I don’t understand how.

    1. I do not think he has a strategy on this topic. He just thinks in certain way, and it leaks. Very “Russian” way, I may add. “Bigger is better”, “we are subsidizing everybody”, etc. It is this natural “Russian” way of thinking that also makes Trump vulnerable to Putin. Not because Trump is a Russian agent, but because he is missing red flags he himself has.

      1. None of this explains why he had to make this comment yesterday as the voting was starting. Or why he expressed certainty that Carney would win weeks ago. Or why his “bigger is better” plan should be likelier to work with Liberals and not Conservatives in power. I despise Liberals but my conspiratorial thinking doesn’t go as far as believing that they’ll hand the country over to Trump in return for this help.

Why the idea of a fully American continent might be appealing I can understand. It’s not appealing to me but I can understand the idea. But none of these actions lead to that goal. They lead to the opposite goal.
Liberals in power in Canada don’t advance any goal.

        1. It’s a little worse than that when you imagine a scenario where Canada pivots to China. They’re already awash with Chinese cash and influence, and nothing will make Russia and China happier than turn Canadians against the US.

      2. Completely agree. It really is an incredible lack of self-awareness and introspection, and it doesn’t help one bit that he is being advised by incompetent people.

  2. Did I hallucinate Trudeau being so unpopular that he stepped down? Wasn’t Polievre heavily favored to win these elections for months? By 20 points? Until January?

    What happened?

    1. Canadians got bamboozled into making their election about Trump. I explained why in the post I published after your comment.

Stupid fucks. Canadians, not you. I love Canada only a little less than I love the US and this is very upsetting to me.
