Forbidden Word

There is one word I prohibit students from using. I tell them that the moment I see it in an essay, I stop reading. I tell them to use context search and remove it.

That word is “society.”

  1. It’s funny when people become so obedient to SOCIETY on some things while literally basing their identity on flouting the same society’s norms and conventions on every other thing. Society switches from being an omnipotent entity to being completely irrelevant depending on one’s convenience.

Also, if you can’t name your specific antagonist (as opposed to a vague term called society), there’s something else going on that you’re not ready to confront.

We live in a society in which society tells us that we have to conform to society’s rules or we can’t go on living in society and without society we are doomed to be apart from society and form another society which will need rules so that society will tell members of the society that they have to live by the rules of the society.

    1. My favorite is “we are told by society.” It’s annoying beyond words. Maybe it will fade away because of AI because not even AI is that stupid
