The reason why the strategic operation for the destruction of Russian military air bases was carried out today is that June 1 is the International Day for Protection of Children. The destroyed bombers have been murdering Ukrainian children for over three years.
In addition, the name of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine who planned the operation is Vasyl Malyuk. In Ukrainian, Malyuk means “child.”

OT: Polish presidential race still too close to call. First exist polls showed Trzaskowski with a very slight margin 50.1-3 over Nawrocki 49.7-9.
Early results will be of small towns where Nawrocki will do better so that will reverse. in the near term. On the other hand Western Poland had a very high turnout and that helps Trzaskowski.
Nawrocki is not the pro-russian demon and/or MAGA guy some people think he is but he’s worse than Trzaskowski (who’s not that great) by almost any measure.

Government site doesn’t show results yet…. there used to be a phenomenon where PiS would get better results than polls suggested (people embarrassed to admit they were voting for PiS). That seemed to disappear in the last parliamentary elections when their result was slightly worse than the polls.
If he did win it’s good to remember that president is not a policy making position in Poland. The biggest problem is simple obstructionism (vetos and lots of them). A secondary problem is will PiS be able to control him the way they controlled Duda… I say no.
