Is it that hard to understand that a Netanyahu that funded Hamas via Qatar was happy to have them plan an attack that would give him cause to remain in power? Not to those paying attention.
PS: Just two days ago, the Knesset voted on a plan to dissolve his government. It failed by two votes, with a new one planned for this week. And now we’re at war again. Lol.
How convenient.

This is definitely self-serving, I agree. What makes me mad is that the US keeps playing into this scheme.

Sounds exactly like what Putin did to justify the second Chechen war, just much worse

“sound like different countries and something is failing to compute”
Two hypotheses… and I give them both about equal odds pending more information (which I’m not going to search out).
first – the Netanyahu government knew about/allowed the Oct 7 attacks as an excuse to stay in power
second – the part of the government that didn’t anticipate Oct 7 was not the same part of the government that has been planning things like the pager attacks or yesterday’s strikes. Domestic security is one area and international hostile actions are a very different area with not much overlap.
Both scenarios have the unfortunate effect of keeping Netanyahu in power…. can’t the US just buy out his contract and give him two nice big retirement homes, one in NYC the other in Miami? it would be so much cheaper…. Heads of state who stay in power too long do far more damage than good…

We have more than one saint who’s chimed in on this scenario– ISR getting into active hostilities with Iran, that is. None of it’s particularly cheerful, they think Turkey and China get involved, and it doesn’t sound as though the US survives the conflagration.
We’ll see, I guess.

Two countries that are often compared are Israel and SA. This comparison is rather misleading. Apartheid was all about maintaining political control and a supply of cheap labor, not creating an ethnostate.

Creating a white ethnostate in SA was always a fringe belief. Nobody was ever able to come up with a realistic proposal.

The most basic different is just the size and diversity of the countries. Israel is the size of New Jersey. SA is just under twice the size of Texas. White people in SA speak two different languages, while black people speak more than 10 languages.
