Babies in Public Spaces

How does it occur to anybody that we need fewer kids in public places?

A cute woman with a cute baby. What’s the downside? That more women realize that having babies is not the end of the world?

  1. “What’s the downside?”

The downside is that it looks unprofessional and a bit contemptuous of the serious procedure. This bring-the-baby-along attitude reminds me of Fetterman’s “Screw the dress code, I’m wearing a hoodie and short pants” sartorial middle finger that he takes childish pleasure in giving the Senate.

In other words, both unnecessary look-at-me stunts are kid stuff.

      1. Men measure, there is an attitude problem all right, but it isn’t Dreidel’s ;-D

Morgan Stanley estimates 45% of women aged 25-44 will remain unmarried and childless in 2030. Noting that women in their 30s and 40s are also more likely to file for divorce and decide against getting married again — and observing “a growing ‘indifference’ to norms like marriage and parenthood to embrace more dynamic societal roles.”

      1. Your not wrong. I don’t particularly like him because he supports things that are just wrong. However that being said, I was perfectly fine with him walking into the senate wearing what he wore, basically giving them the middle finger.

I cannot stress enough the shear amount of loathing and seething hatred I have for the members of congress, house and senate. Both sides of the isle. The fact that anyone can with a serious face talk about he breached the honor and decorum of these sacred halls is astounding.

Quite frankly all of us, down to the most low IQ indoctrinated moron should be talking down to these people like they are little children who got caught trying to shave the dog. Maybe, maybe a dozen out of the hundreds of members of congress are actually there for America. The rest are brazen thieves, traitors, sellouts, and general scum more fit for the noose than to be fancily dressed in the “honor and decorum of these sacred halls.”

Ignoring my hated of those folks to get back to the original piece, I am normally happy to see a woman with her child/children, in this case though I’m going to go off on a limb and say she brought the kid as a political piece and its very likely this is the first time her kid has seen her in days or more.

        1. I agree completely with your assessment of our public servants. God, what a filthy bunch. When are they going to pass any legislation? Why are they constantly on break?

          Stupid bastards.

    1. I’m with Clarissa on this one. The only reason it’s a “look at me” stunt is because babies are de facto banned from public life already. That’s a problem.

      1. A woman with babies hanging off her should be cool, an aspirational figure. Having children is not a disability. It’s not abnormal. We should change our entire thinking about children because we’ve gotten it all wrong.

If we exile children from public view, we’ll become a culture that is barren, that can’t perpetuate itself.

        1. There were many things about Peruvian culture I would not wish to import. But their attitudes toward babies and children in public, and nursing mothers, are a model of humane living.

That and the bus system 🙂

  2. “holds her baby while questioning Fed Chair Powell”

My concern with her holding the baby is it can look like she’s trying to use it to deflect criticism. And/or she’s hoping that the baby softens the responses she gets since tough talk to a woman holding an infant is something that most people want to avoid.

In general yeah, kids around is a normal state of affairs, but testimony before Congress isn’t…
