Brand Cope

This is not true and a cope. The difference between expensive and cheap shoes isn’t branding but the level of comfort, durability, and lack of pain.

I’m really not vain about brands. My entire wardrobe is from “Cato’s”, and I love it. But money absolutely does buy convenience, comfort, and reliability. Those $200 and $2,000 shoes are not like the $20 pair. They are so not like them that probably a different word should be found for these different categories because the objects they name are so distant from each other.

  1. I know something about classic menswear and what this person wrote is absolutely wrong for anything that high-quality. Cheap mall brands, yes, but decently made clothes and shoes are expensive for a reason (quality of fabric, stitching, how they hang on you).

A pair of Alden shoes costs upwards of $600 but those shoes will last you a lifetime if properly taken care of. And they’re constructed in a way that they can be resoled again and again, unlike the glued-on soles you find on sub $100 dress shoes.

Buy once, cry once. And maybe don’t be in a hurry to throw away your clothes. Learn from the king.

    1. So true. I understand not being able to afford something like this and that’s fine. But let’s not pretend that there’s no difference in these products.
