I urgently need a new job, people. We are in a hopeless situation, and it’s only getting worse. The union mishandled everything so egregiously, I’m wondering if it’s not malicious.

My immediate thought was that one or more union reps sold everyone out for their own security (or advancement).
It would be worth tracking (if you had the time and/or inclination) to see if any of them get into administration (or receive a better position at some other place in the immediate future).

The other people are taking this badly, too, so at least I’m not being gaslit with the idea that everything is wonderful.
